A lady’s viral story about her mother allegedly attacking a teacher who harshly flogged her younger sister over a failed quiz has stirred debate over corporal punishment and school discipline in Nigeria.

A Nigerian woman has generated massive reactions online after narrating a dramatic incident involving her mother and a school staff member who allegedly punished her younger sister excessively over poor performance in a quiz.
According to the story shared on social media, the issue started after the school contacted their mother to inform her that the young girl suddenly became sick and had to be taken home from school.
Disturbed by the report, the woman reportedly rushed back from work to discover what had happened. On getting home, she allegedly found out that the child had been severely flogged by a female staff member, often referred to as “aunty” in many Nigerian private schools.
The lady claimed the punishment was so brutal that her younger sister started vomiting and later developed a fever.
While recounting the experience, she explained that the staff member allegedly beat the child because she failed a class quiz.
Angered by the situation, the mother reportedly decided to confront the teacher personally. According to the narration, she first went to buy four canes before heading straight to the school premises.
The lady further claimed that her mother unexpectedly met the staff member inside the school compound and allegedly used all four canes on her during the confrontation before continuing the attack with her bare hands.
The story quickly spread online and sparked heated debates among social media users. Many Nigerians condemned the alleged excessive punishment given to the child, while others also criticized the mother’s reaction, insisting that violence should never be used to settle disputes.
The incident has once again brought attention to the issue of corporal punishment in Nigerian schools, with many parents and child advocates calling for stricter supervision of disciplinary measures used on students.
According to the lady, the school management later dismissed the staff member involved after the incident became known.
The viral narration has continued to attract mixed reactions online, with many people sharing similar experiences of harsh punishment during their school days.
