A UNILORIN first-class Mathematics graduate with a 4.76 CGPA secured a fully funded Master’s scholarship to Italy, and after appealing for relocation support, received sponsorship from Bukola Saraki to cover her travel expenses.

A first-class graduate of Mathematics from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Adisa Blessing Oluwafikayo, has earned a fully funded Master’s scholarship to study Mathematics at the University of Calabria in Italy.
Oluwafikayo graduated with an impressive 4.76 CGPA on a 5.0 scale, securing first-class honours. She announced the achievement on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a major milestone in her academic journey.
Although the scholarship covers tuition and other academic costs, it does not include relocation expenses such as visa fees, flight tickets, and initial living costs. She therefore appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance to help her travel and begin her studies.
Her appeal attracted widespread support, with many people praising her outstanding academic performance and determination.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki later responded to her appeal, promising to cover all her outstanding relocation expenses. He stated that no hardworking young Nigerian should lose such an opportunity because of travel costs and directed a member of his team to contact her immediately.
The support ensured that Oluwafikayo would be able to take up the scholarship and continue her education in Italy.
The development comes as several countries continue to offer fully funded scholarship opportunities to Nigerians. Australia recently opened applications for its 2026 Research Training Programme, which provides full funding for research-based Master’s and PhD studies, while Ireland also announced applications for its 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme, offering one-year fully funded Master’s scholarships for qualified Nigerian professionals.
