Wellspring University, Benin City, has secured the National Universities Commission NUC Approval for MBBS, Four Other Health Programmes.


Wellspring University has recorded another significant milestone with the approval of five new undergraduate academic programmes by the National Universities Commission, further reinforcing the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development.
The approval, which takes effect from the 2026/2027 Academic Session, follows a successful resource assessment and verification exercise conducted by a panel of experts from the Commission.
The newly approved programmes are:
● Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
● B.Sc. Human Anatomy
● B.Sc. Human Physiology
● Bachelor of Health Information Management (BHIM)
● Bachelor of Community Health Science (B.CHS.)
The approval represents another major achievement in the University’s steady growth and strategic expansion of its academic offerings, particularly in the health sciences. It reflects the confidence of the National Universities Commission in the University’s human and material resources, infrastructure, governance, and capacity to deliver quality university education in line with national standards.
Speaking on the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Isaac Rotimi Ajayi expressed profound appreciation to the National Universities Commission for the approval and reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of teaching, research, innovation, and community service.
The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the dedication and support of its Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management, staff, and other stakeholders whose collective efforts contributed to this remarkable achievement.
With these additional programmes, Wellspring University is better positioned to produce highly skilled healthcare professionals who will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the healthcare sector and the socio-economic development of Nigeria and beyond.
