withheld waec result

This page will show you every single thing you need to know about the WAEC withheld results. Specifically, we will tell you why your results are held. Then we will tell you when it will be released. We will show you what to do if your results were held.

For those, with outstanding results, this page will also address your issue and tell you when your results will be released.

Let’s start with WAEC candidates whose results are held.

Latest Information on the Release of WAEC Held Result

This is to inform all candidates whose WASSCE results were held that the authorities of WAEC will release the held results of some candidates who were NOT found guilty of examination malpractice.

However, the council will also cancel the results of candidates who were involved in examination malpractice.

The exact date for the release of the result is yet to be announced but will be released on or before 30th November 2023.

The exact date for the release of the result will be announced once the next NEC meeting date is fixed.

Why Your WAEC Results Were Held

WAEC WITHHOLDS RESULTS if a candidate (or school) is reported to be involved in examination malpractice.

WAEC understands that these might just be mere allegations, so they investigate the report in their Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) meeting.

After the NEC meeting, one of the two things below will happen:

  1. Some held results will be released
  2. Some held results will be canceled.

WAEC releases a held result if and only if a candidate is not guilty of malpractice allegations.

If a candidate is found guilty of the exam malpractice allegations will be CANCELED. When a result is canceled, it can’t be released again!

The Problem: Candidates won’t be able to defend themselves. Only the WAEC NEC will determine if a candidate is guilty of the allegations or not.

When will WAEC Release Held Results 2023

WAEC Held results will likely be released two to three months after the release of the results. It will be released immediately after the NEC meeting.

The date for the WAEC NEC meeting will be announced later.

WAEC Outstanding Results

Now let’s talk about the WAEC Outstanding Result:

Some WASSCE results were Outstanding/Pending (i.e they couldn’t be processed due to some errors on the part of the candidates).

Results are partially released due to queries arising from one or a combination of the following mistakes:

  • Wrong transfer of examination numbers in one or more papers;
  • Failure to shade examination numbers;
  • Shading objective sheets with biro pens instead of a pencil;
  • Mistakes in entries leading to duplication of subjects.

Such errors are being corrected to enable all the affected candidates to get their full results.

Please note that ALL Outstanding results will be released before the end of next month.
