10 NYSC Members to Repeat Service in Bauchi

Cursory: Ten NYSC members in Bauchi State will face extended service due to misconducts. The Bauchi State NYSC Coordinator stressed zero tolerance for truancy. Out of the 401 Batch B stream II corps members who completed their service, four received merit awards for impactful community projects. The coordinator encouraged a continued spirit of service and advised pursuing skill acquisition and entrepreneurship training, urging those without skills to utilize their last allowance to start something.

According to Mrs. Rifkatu Yakubu, the Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, ten members of the National Youth Service Corps in Bauchi State will face an extension of their service year by at least three weeks or one month due to various misconducts that occurred during their service period.

Mrs. Yakubu emphasized that the misconducts involved instances of abscondment and absenteeism, emphasizing the NYSC’s firm stance against truancy and its commitment to penalizing any corps member who engages in such behavior.

In Bauchi State, a total of 401 corps members from the 22 Batch B stream II successfully completed their service, these include 269 males and 132 females.

Also, four of the corps members were recognized and awarded merit awards by the Bauchi State government.

These awards were given in recognition of their positive impact on the lives of individuals within their host communities, achieved through meaningful Community Development Projects and Services carried out during their service year.

She also said that the corps members had written their names in the good book of NYSC, urging them to keep the spirit alive, even after their service year.

“Those of you taking part in the post skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development training should ensure that you complete your training as this will help you to become employers of labour.

“To those of you who failed to learn any skills, you can start doing something even with the last allowance you were paid.“Your parents want to see you doing something, no matter how little. It is better than staying out home doing nothing,” she said.
