22-year-old Lady who Became a Refugee During Studies Overcomes Challenges, Graduates Medical School After 7 Years

Chelsea Emeh, 22, overcame becoming a refugee during the Russia-Ukraine war, resumed her disrupted medical studies in Georgia, and after seven challenging years graduated as a medical doctor, proving resilience and determination can triumph over adversity.

Chelsea Emeh, a 22-year-old lady, achieved her dream of becoming a medical doctor after overcoming major challenges. She graduated from Georgian National University (SEU), Georgia, proving determination and resilience can triumph.

Chelsea began studying Medicine and Surgery at I. Ya. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, Ukraine, in 2018. But in 2022, the Russia-Ukraine war forced her to flee, becoming a refugee overnight. She was out of school for almost a year, fearing she’d have to start over.

Refusing to give up, Chelsea secured admission to Georgian National University (SEU) six months later, resuming her medical education. With determination and support, she completed her program, graduating in 2025 as a medical doctor, marking a demanding seven-year journey.

Sharing her achievement on LinkedIn, Chelsea reflected, “Seven years of hard work, commitment, and resilience, with God by my side always. Three years ago, my life changed overnight.” She became a refugee, unsure if she’d graduate or start over, “but God made a way”.

Chelsea thanked her family and friends for support. “I’m so grateful to God, my support system, who made this journey feel lighter, more manageable, and achievable. Thank you. I’m excited for what the future holds!”
