UNILORIN Announces Christmas and New Year Break Vacation

University of Ilorin, UNILORIN announces Christmas and New Year Break Vacation

The management of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has approved an end-of-year break for both staff and students, effective from Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026.

This was contained in an internal memorandum issued by the Registrar’s Office on December 22, 2025, and addressed to the entire university community.

According to the memo, the Vice-Chancellor has directed that some categories of staff are exempted from the break. These include staff involved in essential services such as University Health Services, Fire Services, Security Personnel, Porters, Works, COMSIT, and Corporate Affairs. These staff members will be granted days off at a later date, as appropriate.

Other exempted categories are management staff, staff whose programmes are scheduled for accreditation during the break, and staff whose services may be required and could be recalled if necessary.

The management urged all affected staff to take note of the directives for strict compliance.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar wished all staff and students a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.

The memorandum was signed by M.A. Alfanla and circulated to principal officers, deans, directors, and heads of departments and units.

In view of the above, the Vice-Chancellor of the University has directed that all staff should observe the holidays, except those involved in essential services who should later be granted days-off as appropriate.

All Heads of Departments/Units are by this memo requested to bring this information to the attention of their staff for due compliance, please.

On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, I wish all staff and students Merry Christmas and New Year in advance. Thank you!
