The David Dickson Foundation awarded scholarships to seven undergraduates from Nigerian universities during its inaugural ceremony, with speakers emphasizing the importance of education in creating future leaders and honoring the late David Dickson’s legacy.
Seven undergraduate students from various Nigerian universities have been awarded scholarships during the launch of the David Dickson Educational Foundation’s first annual scholarship ceremony in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Andrew Jegede, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasized that the foundation aims to give back to society and bring hope to future generations. He congratulated the recipients for their dedication and academic excellence, urging them to become ambassadors of positive change.
Jegede highlighted that the scholarships not only support the students’ ambitions but also create future leaders and innovators. He encouraged the scholars to use their education wisely, aiming to make a meaningful impact on their communities.
Daniel Dickson, speaking on behalf of the Dickson family, praised his late brother’s legacy of supporting education and expressed his commitment to continuing that legacy through the foundation. He congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to keep striving for excellence.
In her welcome address, Funmi Adesigbin commended the scholars’ dedication and urged them to pursue personal growth beyond academics.
Two scholarship recipients, Owodunni Olugbenga Joshua and Ogunsola Esther, expressed gratitude to the foundation, calling it a source of hope and inspiration for their future endeavors.
