Federal University Oye Ekiti Students Design Solar-Powered Stove Using Locally Sourced Materials

In a remarkable display of innovation and sustainability, 400-level students from the Mechatronics Engineering Department at the Federal University Oye Ekiti have successfully designed and constructed a solar-powered stove using locally sourced materials.
The project, which was part of the practical assessment for their First Semester course, MTE 407: Sensors & Actuators, was supervised by Professor M.O. Arowolo. The initiative highlights the students’ ability to apply engineering principles to create eco-friendly solutions tailored to local needs.
The solar-powered stove was officially commissioned in a ceremony attended by the Dean of Engineering, Prof. A. Akinsanmi, who praised the students for their creativity and dedication to addressing real-world challenges through sustainable technology.
This project not only demonstrates the potential of renewable energy but also underscores the importance of utilizing locally available resources to drive innovation in Nigeria’s engineering sector.
