The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) have passed a vote of confidence on the administration of governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over its handling of the Corona Virus pandemic.


The national president of the association, Sunday Asuku while speaking with The Guardian lauded the effort of Sanwo Olu in curbing the spread of the dreaded scourge.
‘’ Following the outbreak of the pandemic in Nigeria and the gallantry of governor Babajide Sanwo Olu in the fight against the deadly Covid-19, it won’t be out of context if the governor is presented a national honor by the Federal Government after the pandemic must have been defeated’’.
Lagos State was among the first two states to confirm the case of covid-19 in the country, owing to the fact that Lagos has an international airport, seaports and land borders where international investors, travellers and business tycoons.

Asuku said ‘’ Lagos State is currently the messiah of Nigeria as the best facilities on ground to combat this pandemic are situated in Lagos. In the space of one month, the government of Lagos State have commenced efforts to disinfect the entire state, from bus stations to market square, streets and so on.
“Provision of food items for Lagosians, first phase of the scheme is targeted at 200,000 Lagosians, partnership with the private sector to make food items readily available. Some school fields have been temporarily converted into market hubs in different local governments where food items would be sold at wholesale prices, all these approach are targeted at preventing Lagosians from crowded environment, hence control and reduce the spread of Covid-19 by decongesting market places.”
The leadership of NAPS commended the gesture of the governor and charged others to emulate him in this regard.
The body equally enjoined Nigerians to remain law abiding and give the Federal Government maximum support to defeat the deadly scourge.
