FUOYE refutes resumption, tutorial rumour

Vice-Chancellor,(VC) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina has again debunked the rumour making the rounds among both the prospective and stale students of the University, that the Management has allegedly directed that students should resume for compulsory tutorials on April 27, 2022 in preparation for their exams on eventual resumption by the striking unions.

A WhatsApp message tagged: FUOYE Management declares tutorials for students”, has been making the rounds, especially on various students’ social media platforms.

The message reads in part: The Management of Federal University Oye-Ekiti led by Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina has declared tutorials for students of the University beginning from Wednesday, April 27, 2022 due to frustrations and neglect by the management and the striking union experienced by the students populace…”

The ill-conceived rumour further stated that a certain Ganiu Oke Saliu, purportedly signed the message as Registrar.

But in a swift response via a statement from the VC’s Special Adviser on Media Matters, Wole Balogun, the VC denied the rumour, saying: “It is not possible, ASUU is on strike . We cannot do anything in school because ASUU is on strike now. This is not just possible at all.”

The statement further clarified that the Acting Registrar of FUOYE is Mr. Ibrahim Mufutau and not one Ganiu Oke Saliu. Members of the public and particularly students of FUOYE are strongly advised to ignore the message in their own interest.
