Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), will graduate 6,837 students, including 62 First-Class honorees, confer honorary degrees on three distinguished individuals, and celebrate its 25th Anniversary with diverse academic and cultural events during its 13th Convocation ceremony on December 13 and 14, 2024.


The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Olugbenga Ige, announced that 6,837 students will graduate during the university’s 13th Convocation ceremony, scheduled for December 13 and 14, 2024. Among the graduating students, 62 earned First Class Honours, 1,941 attained Second Class Upper Division, 3,486 achieved Second Class Lower Division, 684 earned Third Class, and 8 graduated with a Pass.
The graduands also include 657 postgraduate students, with 46 awarded Ph.D. degrees, reflecting the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
Speaking at a press conference in Akure, Ondo State, Prof. Ige revealed that three prominent Nigerians would be conferred with honorary degrees for their contributions to society and the institution:
• Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa (Doctor of Public Administration, Honoris Causa)
• Hon. Adegboyega Adeyemi Adefarati (Doctor of Political Science, Honoris Causa)
• Mr. Hazmat Ayodele Subair (Doctor of Business Administration, Honoris Causa)
The Vice Chancellor highlighted that the event coincides with the university’s 25th Anniversary, featuring activities such as religious services, drama performances, research exhibitions, athletic competitions, a football match, and intellectual engagements like an anniversary lecture by Dr. Kayode Ajulo, the Ondo State Attorney-General.
The convocation ceremony will span two days:
• Friday, December 13: Conferment of first degrees for students from the Faculties of Administration and Management Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, and others, alongside prize presentations.
• Saturday, December 14: Conferment of degrees for students from the Faculties of Agriculture, Arts, Law, Science, postgraduate degrees, honorary degrees, and additional prize presentations.
Prof. Ige also noted the university’s recent accreditation of new programs, including Nursing, Cyber Security, Public Health, Data Science, and Food Science and Technology, reaffirming its dedication to innovation and academic integrity.
