Al-ansar University, Maiduguri Appoints Professor Fanna Inna Abdulrahman As Acting Vice-chancellor.


The Board of Trustees of Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, upon the recommendation of the Governing Council and in accordance with the First Schedule Section 4(2) and 3(1) of the University Law, has approved the appointment of Professor Fanna Inna Abdulrahman, FCSN, FICCON, as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, effective Monday, 8th September, 2025.
Until her appointment, Professor Fanna was on sabbatical leave from the University of Maiduguri, where she lectures in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry. At Al-Ansar University, she has served as Head of Department of Chemistry and Coordinator of Examinations and Time Table. She is also the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) at Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.
Born on 5th March, 1963, in Maiduguri, Professor Fanna hails from Ngumati in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State. She began her academic journey at Yerwa Central Primary School, Maiduguri, and went on to obtain her West African School Certificate from Federal Government Girls College, Owerri in 1980.
She holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry (1987), M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (1992), Master of Public Administration (1997), and a Ph.D. in Organic/Medicinal Chemistry (2004) all from the University of Maiduguri.
Professor Fanna began her academic career in 1988 as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Maiduguri and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in 2011. Over the years, she has supervised over 150 undergraduate projects, 35 M.Sc. theses, and 15 Ph.D. dissertations, with five of her Ph.D. graduates now serving as Professors.
An accomplished scholar and seasoned administrator, Professor Fanna has published over 150 scholarly articles in reputable national and international journals and has participated in over 25 conferences worldwide. She is also a Professorial Assessor, External and Internal Examiner to numerous universities across Nigeria.
