Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a pillar in the strategic goal of Ahmadu Bello University, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, disclosed in Zaria today.
Prof Ahmed made the disclosure at the 6th Conference of the National Association of Pharmacists in Academia (NAPA) that was held at the College of Postgraduate Studies Auditorium, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, the Vice-Chancellor stated that it was very exciting that the discussion on AI was going on in Ahmadu Bello University.
According to him, the university had already put in place strategies for use of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
The Vice-Chancellor enjoined all participants to come up with a communique on AI in teaching, research and pharmaceutical practice.
In a keynote address titled “Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy: Transforming Education, Research and Practice for Future of Healthcare”, Prof Martins Emeje defined innovation as
new ideas, methods, or
solutions for transformation.
Prof Emeje noted that innovation goes beyond new products, as it is about
reimagining possibilities and solving problems in ways that create meaningful change.
He thanked the organisers for the opportunity given to him and wished them fruitful deliberations.
In a goodwill message, the Dean, Students Affairs Division, Prof Sahalu B Junaidu, stated that AI has a role to play in all human endeavors.
Prof Sahalu maintained that the theme of the conference was in line with ABU’s priority in AI related researches.
According to him, ABU is one of the best in terms of emerging technologies.
The event was attended by participants from different places across the country.
