Aspira Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its promise of awarding scholarships to 60 indigent students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) for this year as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).


The company emphasized that supporting education remains one of its core mandates aimed at contributing to the country’s development.
Aspira Nigeria Limited had awarded scholarship to sixty (60) indigent students at the last academic session.
The General Manager of Aspira, Abbas Jaafar, made this announcement on Thursday, October 3, 2024, during a courtesy visit by the top management of BUK, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Management Services, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani. Mr. Jaafar assured the delegation that Aspira is dedicated to providing the scholarship funds to the deserving students as soon as possible. “We always strive to bring smiles to students’ faces,” he said.
He further highlighted Aspira’s broader educational initiatives, mentioning the renovation of 33 public schools in Kano, which included the provision of over 400 tables and chairs. Mr. Jaafar noted that investing in education, especially for children and youth, is crucial in addressing Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.
Accompanied by the company’s Marketing Manager, Santhosh Kumar Nair, Mr. Jaafar also shared that Aspira has employed numerous BUK graduates as part of its commitment to strengthening ties with the university. He affirmed that this trend of employment would continue in the future.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani expressed the university’s deep gratitude for Aspira’s continuous support. He specifically thanked the company for its Laundromat project, which provides efficient laundry services to students at BUK’s Old Campus, and for its pledge to award scholarships to 60 indigent students.
The Registrar of BUK, Dr. Haruna Aliyu, also addressed the company, urging Aspira to explore collaboration opportunities with the university, particularly in finding solutions to marketing challenges, especially as businesses face economic difficulties in the country.
Professor Shansuddeen Umar, Dean of Student Affairs, conveyed the appreciation of BUK’s students, stating that they were elated about the scholarships and the newly established Laundromat. He praised Aspira for its numerous interventions and goodwill gestures, which have significantly impacted the student community.
The University Librarian, Dr. Kabiru Dahiru Abbas, added that the contributions made by Aspira to the university were invaluable and deeply appreciated.
Other members of the BUK delegation included AA Maulud (Protocol Officer), Bilyaminu Aminu (Manager, University Guest House), Nura Garba (Public Affairs), Aliyu Abubakar (DEAR), and Ibrahim (photographer).
