Bowen University Teaching Hospital management has Appointed Prof. Samuel Ademola Adegoke as Medical Director

On behalf of the Board, Management, Staff, Students and Patients of Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), I wish to inform the general public of the appointment of Prof. Samuel Ademola Adegoke as the Chief Medical Director of Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, which takes effect from 1st January, 2025.

Prof. Samuel Adegoke graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2001. He began his career as House Officer in Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) Ile-Ife in 2001. He observed the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) at Ika Christian Hospital, Ika-Ankpa, Kogi State between 2002–2003. He began his Residency Training Program at OAUTHC in 2003. He rose through the ranks in the Residency Training Programme, and became the Chief Resident of Paediatrics. He was the Vice President II of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and completed his Fellowship in Paediatrics from the West African College of Physicians (FWACP) in 2008. He completed his Masters in Public Health in OAU, Ile Ife in 2012 and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Haematology, from Universidade Federal de Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2016.

He bagged his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2022.

Professor Adegoke became a Lecturer at the OAU and was appointed as an Honorary Consultant in the OAUTHC in 2010. He became a Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2020. He has over 88 full-length Publications in national and international Peer-reviewed Scientific Journals which has attracted several grants. He has held various administrative roles in the teaching hospital setting, university, and the Church of God. He has been a Physician-in-Charge of the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa unit of OAUTHC, former Vice Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, OAU, Ile-Ife, and Head of Department of Paediatrics, University of the Gambia, just to mention a few. Prof. S. A. Adegoke is a Christian of the Baptist Denomination. He currently worships at Calvary Baptist Church, Oromu, Ilesa, Osun State, where he is also a Deacon of more than ten years.


Professor S. A. Adegoke is happily married and blessed with Godly children.

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I announce to the general public that, Prof. Samuel Ademola Adegoke, an erudite scholar with a track record of excellence, professionalism and exceptional performance has been appointed as the Chief Medical Director of this noble and prestigious institution.
