Praise Esor achieved an exceptional academic milestone by earning two First-Class degrees from the University of Lagos, overcoming financial challenges through discipline, resilience, and a focused study routine.

A Nigerian scholar, Praise Esor, has achieved an extraordinary academic feat by earning two First-Class degrees from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria.
Her journey toward academic excellence began in 2019 when she enrolled in an Advanced Diploma program in Social Development and Administration at UNILAG’s Department of Sociology. Excelling in her studies, she graduated with a First-Class, ranking among the best in her class.
The Advanced Diploma program, offered by the Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC) at UNILAG, is a rigorous two-year full-time course designed to enhance professional skills and provide internationally recognized certifications. Successful candidates have the opportunity to transition into a bachelor’s degree program.
Praise’s exceptional performance secured her direct-entry admission into UNILAG in 2019 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Demonstrating the same dedication, she graduated once again in 2024 with a First-Class honors degree, earning her the rare distinction of being a double First-Class holder. Her outstanding academic record also placed her among the top four best-graduating students in her department.
Reflecting on her journey in a LinkedIn post, Praise shared the challenges she faced, particularly financial struggles. However, she remained steadfast, disciplined, and committed to achieving her goals. She adopted a “triangular lifestyle,” dedicating her time strictly to moving between classrooms, the library, and her hostel to maintain focus.
“I knew mediocrity was never an option! I sacrificed my social life for this dream, but today, I can confidently say every effort was worth it,” she stated.
Expressing gratitude, Praise acknowledged the unwavering support of her family and the incredible individuals within and beyond UNILAG who contributed to her success.
