BUK Disclaimer Regarding Defamatory Statement Against Former Dean Of Student Affairs.

The attention of Bayero University, Kano has been drawn to a recent social media post made by one Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulateef (a.k.a. MC Almajiri), a graduate of the Department of Geology, alleging corruption against Professor Shamsuddeen Umar, former Dean of Student Affairs.

The University categorically states as follows:

  • The allegations contained in the said post are false, baseless, and defamatory.
  • Professor Shamsuddeen Umar served the University with distinction, integrity, and professionalism throughout his tenure as Dean of Student Affairs. His tenure was extended severally on account of his excellent performance and commitment to the welfare of students and the University community.
  • The University entirely dissociates itself from the malicious claims made in the said publication and affirms that no record exists of misconduct or corruption against Professor Umar in the discharge of his official duties.
  • The University views this act of character assassination as an attempt to tarnish the image of both the institution and its officers.
Accordingly, Bayero University, Kano demands that:
  • Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulateef immediately retract the defamatory post and issue a public apology to the University and Professor Umar.
  • Failure to comply will compel the University to consider appropriate legal action to protect its integrity and the reputation of its officers.

Bayero University remains committed to upholding the highest standards of character and learning and will not condone any act that undermines the values upon which its degrees are awarded.
