Fed Poly Bauchi Secures 100% NBTE Accreditation for 8 Academic Programmes

In a landmark achievement that affirms its academic excellence and institutional quality, the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has received a letter of grant of accreditation for all its academic programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) — achieving a remarkable 100% accreditation status.

The letter, conveyed by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes Department, Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, also gave approval for the polytechnic to commence eight new academic programmes, further expanding its academic portfolio in response to emerging national needs and global trends.

The newly approved programmes are as follows:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in:
  • Crime Management
  • Cooperative Economics and Management
  • Taxation
  • Cybersecurity and Data Protection
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Strategic Communication and Media Studies
  • Film and Multimedia Production

National Diploma (ND) in:

  • Urban and Regional Planning

The NBTE, while commending the polytechnic’s commitment to quality and innovation, also highlighted certain operational areas to be addressed for the full regularization of the newly introduced programmes. These include requirements in operational costs for departments, infrastructure, and equipment — which the institution is already working on, in line with NBTE standards.

Rector of the Polytechnic, Alh. Sani Usman, described the development as “a bold validation of the Polytechnic’s capacity to deliver high-quality technical and vocational education aligned with Nigeria’s developmental goals and global best practices.”

He further noted that the new programmes reflect the institution’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in digital technology, media innovation, economic development, and urban planning.

The accredited programmes will be due for another visitation by 2030 while the newly approved programmes will be due for accreditation when the first set of students are in their fourth semester of studies.
