The Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic Oko Anambra State Chapter, has suspended its strike action.


The Chairman of ASUP, Sir Samuel Igbokwe, announced this after the congress of the Union held on September 15, 2021.
According to him, this was as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding reached and signed between the Governing Council of the Polytechnic and ASUP after deliberation on the remote causes of the strike.
The details of the suspension was conveyed to the ASUP Congress by the Union’s Chairman.
The ASUP team, which was led by its Chapter Chairman and Secretary Mr. Benjamin Obioha, JP thanked the Council for its responsive approach that culminated in the emergency meeting of 11th Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
The Union promised to work for the good of the Polytechnic, expressing satisfaction with the “purposefulness of the Council” so far and the high level maturity exhibited by the Polytechnic Management in handling the strike issue.
The Chairman of the council , Mallam Kale Kawu stated that the Council will provide the necessary leadership to Management, Staff and Students to take the Polytechnic to higher level.
