Final Year Student Opens Up About Failing 8 Courses in 100-Level, Sparks Reactions Online

A final-year FUNAAB student went viral after revealing he failed 8 courses in 100-level due to personal struggles and truancy, but has since bounced back academically, inspiring widespread reactions and conversations about resilience and mental health.

A final-year student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has stirred widespread conversation online after sharing a throwback of his 100-level second-semester results — revealing he had failed eight courses and passed only two.

The story came to light on X (formerly Twitter) through user @meloadebanks_, who posted the results in response to a trending discussion about academic struggles.

“A carryover ke? I carried the whole semester 😤. I had to resit for all!” he captioned the post.

When another user, @debowaleolusola, questioned whether he had even attempted the exams, he candidly replied:

“Yes, I didn’t. I wanted to drop out. Was suicidal. I was dancing with the devil and messing with dangerous people.”

He clarified that the two As he earned were in practical courses he attended, but admitted he skipped the rest of his exams due to personal issues and truancy.

Despite the rocky start, the student shared that he had since turned things around.

“I cleared all except four courses, which I dropped in 300 level and retook during the just concluded 500-level second semester. I’m now awaiting the results next week Thursday,” he added.

His post has since gone viral, with many praising his resilience and opening up about their own setbacks in school.

Here are a few reactions from users:

  • @baby_Dammie: “If this thing no be FUNAAB result, na 2% e go remain! Didn’t even need to fully open the image.”
  • @chechelinna1: “Are you a Funaab student? I am familiar with all these courses.”
  • @TunezDVL: “Damn bro, so when you do the COs, do they add the score to your CGPA or they just pass you without adding the score?”
  • @HalalPhilly: “Read through your post and comments, and I’m glad you took the bold step of starting over. It’s an inspiration to others who might be on the edge.”
  • @Slimlens387728: “You got A in those courses? Hmm 🤔 Sometimes we’re the ones who derail ourselves.”
  • @debowaleolusola: “Didn’t you write the exam & test? You had zeros or that’s really what you got?”

The tweet has become a rallying point for discussions around academic pressure, mental health, and redemption, especially among Nigerian university students.
