Fountain University Appoints New Substantive Bursar.

The Governing Council of Fountain University, Osogbo, has approved the appointment of Mr. Segun Sulaiman Balogun, FCA, as the institution’s second substantive Bursar. The decision was reached at the Council’s 63rd Regular Meeting held on Monday, 8 December 2025, following the adoption of the recommendations of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Committee.

Mr. Balogun’s appointment takes effect from 1 February 2026, succeeding the outgoing Bursar, Mrs. Silifat Ayinke Ali-Balogun, FCA, whose tenure comes to a successful close after years of dedicated service.

Before this appointment, Mr. Balogun served diligently as the Deputy Bursar of the University. He holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Ilorin (1990) and an M.Sc. in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2019). A consummate professional, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). Mr. Balogun is also a devoted family man.

In her congratulatory message, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, applauded the appointment, describing it as “a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Balogun’s remarkable dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the growth of Fountain University.” She expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would further strengthen the University’s financial administration and accelerate ongoing developmental strides.

“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Balogun into this new leadership role. His track record of integrity, competence, and service speaks for itself, and we look forward to the transformative impact he will bring to the Bursary and to our University as a whole,” the Vice Chancellor added.

Also speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Sheriff A. Adenekan, conveyed the Council’s best wishes, noting that the University anticipates a new phase of excellence in financial management under the new Bursar’s stewardship.

The Fountain University community congratulates Mr. Segun Sulaiman Balogun, FCA, on his well-earned appointment and wishes him great success in his new role.
