FUDutse Vice Chancellor Appoints New Dean, Faculty of Law

FUDutse Vice Chancellor has appointed Prof. Ibrahim as the Dean, Faculty of Law.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ahmad Muhammed Gumel, has approved the appointment of Professor Aliyu Ibrahim as the Pioneer Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, Federal University Dutse for an initial period of one year.

In a letter signed by the Registrar, Alhaji Abubakar Mijinyawa, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated Professor Ibrahim on his well-deserved appointment. He also prayed to Allah to guide the new Dean in nurturing the new Faculty to success.

Brief Biography of the new Dean

Professor Aliyu Ibrahim is a distinguished legal scholar, educator, and practitioner with over a decade of experience in academia and the justice sector. He served as a Lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina. His academic journey is marked by excellence, culminating in a Ph.D. in Public Law from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa.

The new Dean began his legal career in a private legal firm before moving to Katsina State Judiciary as a Legal Assistant and later Magistrate. Since joining academia in 2012, he has taught a wide range of courses including Public International Law, Constitutional Law, and Law of Evidence, and has supervised postgraduate research across institutions in Nigeria.

His work focuses on Human Rights, International Law and Governance, with numerous publications in reputable local and international journals. He also served as Editor-in-Chief of the UMYU Law Journal and holds editorial roles in other scholarly publications.

Professor Ibrahim has facilitated capacity-building programmes, and contributed significantly to university administration and community service, particularly in legal education and conflict resolution initiatives.
