FUL Senate Appoints Prof. Jacqueline Badaki First Female DVC (Administration), as Prof. S.D. Musa Takes Over as DVC (Academic)

The Senate of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has appointed Professor Jacqueline Azumi Badaki as the first female Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) during its 97th meeting held on 3rd November 2025, which was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, the Chairman of Senate.
Consequently, the Senate approved the redeployment of Professor Salihu Danlami Musa, who was the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and earlier appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) with immediate effect.
The appointments followed the expiration of the tenure of Professor Emmanuel Abdullahi Bala, who served meritoriously as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), and then as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), between November 2021 and November 2025.
Professor Bala assumed office as DVC (Academic) when Professor M.S. Audu finished his 4-year tenure earlier this year. The Professor of Geology and former Dean, Faculty of Science, completed his tenure successfully, having served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for four (4) years—two consecutive terms of two (2) years each.
Professor Badaki emerged following her nomination and Professor Ofure Aito, Director Institute of Gender Studies, on the floor of Senate. Professor Aito, however, stepped down her nomination to pave the way for Professor Badaki, an admirable gesture that was greatly commended.
Until her appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), the Professor of Parasitology and Entomology, who delivered the 12th Inaugural Lecture of the University in June 2023, was the Director of the FUL Zoo and Conservatory (FUL ZAC).
Professor Badaki had also served as the Head of the Department of Zoology, and she is currently a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Postgraduate Studies, which is entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding and promoting quality in all aspects of postgraduate teaching, learning, supervision, assessment, and research of the College.
In her acceptance speech, the new DVC (Administration), who was stunned after her emergence, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and members of Senate for the trust and confidence reposed in her, assuring that she would discharge her duties selflessly and tirelessly with all sense of responsibility.
Congratulations!
