FUOYE lecturer Kamal A. Odunjo-Saka alleges he was suspended after exposing ₦10 million TETFund scholarship fraud, while the university claims his suspension was due to misconduct unrelated to his accusations.

Kamal A. Odunjo-Saka, a lecturer at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), claims he was suspended after exposing alleged embezzlement of ₦10 million in TETFund scholarship funds intended for his PhD program in Cyprus.
Odunjo-Saka, a lecturer in the Department of Psychology, described his suspension as “baseless and illegal,” alleging that three TETFund staff members mishandled the funds, leading to delays and financial difficulties that disrupted his studies. According to him, repeated efforts to resolve the matter with TETFund and FUOYE management were met with excuses and bureaucratic hurdles, ultimately forcing him to self-fund parts of his education.
The university issued three queries and suspended him, citing misconduct and violation of institutional regulations. FUOYE’s Registrar claimed Odunjo-Saka’s allegations were defamatory and unsubstantiated, urging him to follow due process instead of publicizing claims. The Vice-Chancellor’s media adviser stated that the suspension stemmed from misconduct, not the fraud allegations, which investigations deemed baseless.
Odunjo-Saka has called on Nigerians to intervene, while the university maintains its position that the suspension is unrelated to his claims, urging him to adhere to university rules.
