FUTB Notice on Cancelation of Mid-Semester Break & Attendance Policy

The Senate, at its 8th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, 17th July, 2025, expressed serious concern over the poor rate of student resumption for the 2nd Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Session. It was noted with dismay that many students have deliberately failed to return to campus, even though academic activities commenced over three weeks ago.
As a consequence of this unacceptable disregard for the University’s academic calendar, the Senate has taken the following decisions:
1) Cancellation of Mid-Semester Break:
The one-week mid-semester break initially scheduled to hold from Monday, 28th July to Sunday, 3rd August, 2025, has been canceled. This decision is intended to serve as a deterrent and to reinforce strict compliance with the University’s academic calendar henceforth.
2) 75% Mandatory Class Attendance:
All students are hereby reminded that only those who attain a minimum of 75% attendance in all registered courses will be eligible to sit for examinations, effective from the 1 semester 2025/2026 academic session. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Students are strongly advised to take these directives seriously and comply fully.
