Controversial pastor Odumeje declared during a church sermon that he is more intelligent than many university graduates, claiming his life experience and self-study have given him a “first-class certificate brain,” while urging parents to help their children choose meaningful university courses.

Popular and controversial Nigerian clergyman, Odumeje, has once again made headlines with a bold and unapologetic claim about his intellectual capacity. Despite lacking formal tertiary education, the self-acclaimed “Indabosky Bahose” declared that he is more intelligent than many individuals who hold university degrees.
The statement was made during a passionate sermon at his church, where he addressed the critical issue of education and career choices among young people. Speaking directly to parents in his congregation, Odumeje emphasized the importance of making intentional decisions when it comes to selecting university courses for their children.
“This is not the time to tell your daughter to accept just any course because the lecturer says, ‘this is what we have, take it or leave it.’ Don’t do that. Choose a serious course,” he advised.
He criticized a system that forces students into random or less meaningful academic paths due to limited options or external pressure. According to him, such choices often result in wasted time, frustration, and lack of fulfillment in the long run.
“I Have a First-Class Certificate Brain”
Odumeje went further to defend his controversial stance by highlighting the depth of knowledge he has acquired through personal study, real-life experiences, and spiritual insight. While he may not hold a formal certificate from any institution, he insisted that his understanding and wisdom surpass those of many university-trained individuals.
“I have studied many courses and I can tell you about most of them. Just because I didn’t attend university doesn’t mean I’ll let you make mistakes. I am more intelligent than many graduates. If you’re talking about brains, I have a first-class certificate brain,” he declared confidently.
He urged parents not to underestimate the value of practical intelligence, common sense, and divine wisdom—qualities he believes are sometimes more impactful than academic qualifications.
Odumeje concluded by encouraging families to think beyond societal expectations and prioritize purpose-driven education, rooted in a child’s natural strengths and passions.
“True intelligence isn’t about sitting in a classroom or collecting certificates. It’s about how you apply your mind, solve problems, and make wise decisions,” he said.
