Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, has matriculated no fewer than 5,128 newly-admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.


The matriculation ceremony held on Thursday at the institution’s convocation ground, was witnessed by parents, guardians, well-wishers, staff and other distinguished individuals.
In his address at the occasion, Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata implored the matriculating students to enrich themselves with knowledge and skills and experience to achieve their long-term vision.
Dr. Maifata said the occasion marked the official enrolment of the new students into the polytechnic academic program as approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
He congratulated the students for securing admission into the institution, urging them to embrace self-discipline and pursue their studies with seriousness.
Dr. Maifata said the institution has come of age as it has a strategic vision to offer its students the best in cutting-edge research and service delivery in science, leadership and management skills, appealing to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in transforming the institution to a global standard through the provision of facilities and structures for a conducive learning atmosphere.
He stressed that for the students to succeed in their academic endeavour, they should ignore criminal activities such as cultism, indecent dressing, drug abuse, addiction, vandalism of public facilities, examination and sexual harassment.
The commended Governor Sule, who is the Visitor to the Polytechnic, for graciously approving and awarding the construction of additional female hostel, hailing the support received from relevant organisations including TETFund, NELFund, NBTE, ITF among others.
He emphasized that for the first time in the institution, students would commence Computer-Based Test examination to compete favourably with other institutions across the nation.
In their goodwill messages, Chairman of IMAP-ASUP, Dr. Iliah Obadiah and the Outgoing President, IMAP-SUG, Comr. Abdullahi Ibrahim, congratulated the students to face their studies with seriousness, warning that anyone who fails to measure up may not achieve his future dreams in the institution.
They said the Polytechnic is committed to providing quality education to produce quality graduates who could become disciplined, respectful and dedicated, urging the students to be good ambassadors of the society.
During the ceremony the matriculating students were administered the Oath of Office by Frances Ovey Abene.
The students were graced by Principal Officers of the institution, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, well-wishers, parents, guardians and other matriculants.
