An Industrial Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State has ordered the reinstatement of 32 Technologist staff of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) who were illegally sacked by the Management on December 5, 2019.
The ruling was given by Justice K.D Damulak, the presiding Judge on Tuesday, 8th December 2020. He also ordered that the University management pay each of the claimants a sum of N50,000 each as compensation.
Justice Damulak who ruled that the disengagement of the staff in the manner that was done was unlawful, ordered the management of the institution to pay the affected staff their salaries, emoluments and allowances from the date of their unlawful termination till reinstatement and subsequently, till retirement.
The court further ordered that salaries and cost up till the date of the ruling are to be paid within 30 days of the judgment or the amounts will attract 10% interest per annum.
