In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??

It means, additional requirement for a particular course in a particular school. If your school have a special consideration for either O’level Requirement, UTME Subject Combination or Direct Entry Requirement, then please take note of it.

Note sometimes in special consideration column, the school requirement might be slightly different from the general requirement. We advice you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course. ITS NECESSARY else you might be denied admission.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR METEOROLOGY

English Language(*), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Geography

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

• (i) FUTA requires English Language, Physics, Mathematics and either Chemistry or Geography.
• (ii) MARITIME-UNI requires Geography, Physics and any of Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology.

O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR METEOROLOGY

Below is the O’level Requirement for Meteorology (UTME CANDIDATES)

Five (5) SSC credit passes including Physics, Mathematics and English Language and either Chemistry or Geography.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

• (i) FUTA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalents at NOT more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Geography and any other science subject.
• (ii) MARITIME-UNI requires five (5) credits at SSCE or its equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Geography and any of Chemistry or Biology.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR METEOROLOGY

• ND upper credit in Meteorology in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements. OR
• WMO Class II Certificate in Weather Forecasting in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements.
•  ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics in addition to the SSC requirements.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

• (i) FUTA accepts ‘A’ Level passes or equivalents in at least two (2) subjects from Physics, Mathematics and either Chemistry or Geography. WMO Class II certificate is also eligible for admission.

The universities above are the only government university that offers Meteorology and awards first degree upon completion.
