Lagos State University (LASU) has won the 2024 Justice Innocent Umezulike National Debate Competition.

The competition, which featured four stages, was keenly contested by undergraduate students from over 20 law faculties across four regions of Nigeria.

At the event, Foundation co-chairs Dr. Cynthia Umezulike and Dr. Victor Umezulike emphasized their commitment to advancing excellent legal education and research, honoring the legacy of their late father, Justice Innocent Umezulike. This year’s competition, traditionally for law students, was opened to all undergraduate students from accredited faculties in Nigeria.

In the final round, LASU’s Team Beryl, represented by Oladipupo Olalekan (Speaker), Ajeniya Oluwagbemiga (Speaker), and Musendiku Mulikat (Researcher), triumphed over Ahmadu Bello University’s Team Sapphire, which included Elizabeth Chris (Speaker), Yusuf Olatunji (Speaker), Ephraim Edokpa (Researcher), and Mustapha Hauwau (Researcher).
