Professor Mohammed Isa Kida, a scholar of accounting and finance, has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia).


A native of Hawul Local Government Area in Borno State, Professor Kida brings over three decades of academic, administrative and professional competences to his new role.
Born on November 10, 1967, Kida’s academic journey began at Bariki Primary School in Biu, followed by secondary education at Comprehensive Secondary School Waka-Biu. He earned his B.Sc. in Accountancy from the University of Maiduguri in 1994, his M.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Lagos in 1997, and, he later obtained a Ph.D. in Accountancy from the University of Maiduguri in 2008.
An accomplished academic and professional accountant, Kida is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI), a Certified National Accountant (CNA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (FIICA).
Throughout his distinguished career, Kida has taught and held leadership positions at numerous institutions, including the University of Maiduguri, Yobe State University, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Federal University, Wukari, and the American University of Nigeria, Yola.
His leadership journey includes serving as head of Department, director, and dean of faculty, as well as a member of the governing council of several universities.
At the Federal University of Lafia, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Chairman of the Committee of Provosts, Deans and Directors, and chairman of several strategic committees.
Beyond the academia, Kida has provided consultancy services to government agencies and private firms and he has been instrumental in securing research grants and development funding across from many states.
Kida’s scholarly output includes over 60 publications and five books covering critical areas in public finance, taxation and corporate governance.
He has earned numerous awards for excellence, leadership and service from students’ bodies, professional associations and universities nationwide.
A passionate community builder, Kida continues to champion educational mentorship, social development and youth empowerment initiatives across Nigeria.
Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida is happily married and blessed with children.
