The National Association of Polytechnic Students has asked the Federal Government to wade into the Higher National Diploma controversy in the public service, whereby the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has yet to accord full recognition to the holders.

The NAPS on Monday in Abuja at a press conference noted that despite a “White Paper approved by the Federal Executive Council in September 2006, March 2007 and June 2018” to clear the HND limitations in public service, the paper had yet to be implemented.
The association gave the government 21-day ultimatum to compel the implementation of the White Paper of face a mass protest from polytechnic students nationwide.

The NAPS National President, Sunday Asuku, said, “We painfully note that on getting to Salary Grade Level 14, the HND holders are barred and stagnated irrespective of their competence and experience, while the University degree holders are allowed to progress up to Grade Level 17.
“We hereby call on the Office of the Head of the Service of the Federation to within 21 days from now issue an implementation circular to the White Paper.
“We urge all HND holders, polytechnics and monotechnic students that to await further instructions on the plan to occupy the OHCSF from Monday, April 13.”
