Cursory: Lucy Opit moved from being a student at Midwest Barber College in the US to owning the institution, all in one year

In 2014, Lucy Opit enrolled on Midwest Barber College with a vision of training to be a barber, unaware she would soon own the same institution.
As fate would have it, she was looking for a location and barber equipment when she got an information that the school was shutting down.
She called the owner of the college to purchase their equipment, but ended up being convinced to acquire the institution instead of starting one afresh and going through the hustle of plumbing and electrical work.
She disclosed;
“I had just gone through a divorce so I used my settlement for initial capital plus some savings.”
By 2015, Lucy had earned her license from the Kansas State of Barbering, allowing her to operate the very barber college she had received training in a few years earlier.
She embarked on a remarkable journey, not just as a barber but also as the proud owner of the only ethnic barber shop in Manhattan, KS.
In 2018, she was recognised as the first black woman in Kansas to own a nationally accredited barber college.
