Oyakhire Halima Sadia, graduating with a first-class degree and a CGPA of 4.91 in Petroleum Engineering from Covenant University, was recognized as the department’s best student for the 2023/2024 session, earning awards, a cash prize, and aspiring to excel in both the energy and fashion industries.


Oyakhire Halima Sadia, a student from the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Covenant University’s College of Engineering, has emerged as the best graduating student in her department with an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.91 for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Halima earned a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, graduating with an outstanding first-class distinction from Covenant University, Nigeria.
Her remarkable achievement was recognized with two awards and a cash prize of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000), presented by the university’s alumni association.
Reflecting on her success, Halima shared that the journey was not without challenges. Balancing leadership roles and extracurricular activities alongside academic work demanded great effort, but she is grateful that it all paid off in the end.
Inspired by her academic excellence, Halima aims to make a significant impact in the energy sector, particularly in the oil and gas industry. She is passionate about driving innovation and promoting sustainable growth to advance the sector.
In addition to her aspirations in the energy field, Halima expressed a deep interest in the fashion industry. “I am also very interested in bringing my own ideas into the fashion world,” she shared.
Looking ahead, Halima plans to further her education in the energy sector while gaining leadership experience in organizations committed to sustainability. Her long-term goals include developing expertise in business development and management, establishing her own fashion line, and launching a company that bridges the oil and gas sector with creative ventures.
In a message to fellow students, Halima advised them to “pursue their dreams boldly, without fear of failure, because the satisfaction of achieving success on some days will outweigh the fear of failing on others.”
The university management congratulated Halima on her outstanding achievement and wished her continued success in her future endeavors.
