NUC Gives Approval for Commencement of 17 New Programmes in UNICROSS

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given approval for the commencement of academic activities in seventeen new programmes in University of Cross River State.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Augustine Angba, announced this good news today during the 111th Regular meeting of the University’s Senate.

He listed the approved programmes as:

• Broadcasting
• Journalism and Media Studies 
• Marketing
• Animal and Environmental Biology
• Plant Science
• Microbiology
• Library and Information Science
• Human Kinetics
• Information Systems
• Peace Studies
• Sociology
• Entrepreneurship
• Banking and Finance
• Software Engineering
• Early Childhood Education
• Economics
• Industrial Chemistry

The approval of these programmes is an outcome of NUC’s Resource Verification visit to the University. The visit took place in April this year.

The approved programmes are scheduled for commencement in the next academic session.

This development is another awesome leap for UNICROSS, following the recent ranking of the University by Times Higher Education as the 7th best in Nigeria and 37th in Africa, among 51 universities that were ranked in Sub Saharan Africa.
