The Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu has rewarded three Corps members in recognition of their exceptional performances in a creative writing competition recently organized by the Scheme.

Blessing Oluebube Ohanuka (BN/25A/0592), serving in Benue State whose writing emerged overall best out of nearly 40 entries from across the nation received a cash reward of N100,000.00.
In the same vein, Yusuf Salahudeen Muhammad (LA/25A/19046), serving in Lagos state received N70,000.00 for clinching second position; while Blessing Inyang Paul (NG/24A/2499), who served in Niger State went home with N50,00.00 after coming third in the competition.
In his remarks during the prize presentation ceremonies held separately at NYSC Secretariats in Makurdi, Lagos and Benin, the Director General commended the literary prowess, creative mindset and excellent performances of the three winners.
He equally commended the efforts of the other Corps Members who had submitted write-ups for the competition but could not make it to the top three.
Presenting the cash prize to Blessing Oluebube Ohanuka in Makurdi on behalf of the Director General, NYSC Benue State Coordinator, Mrs
Veronica Garba congratulated her and urged her to keep projecting the image of the Scheme and the nation at all times.
In her acceptance speech, Miss Ohanuka expressed gratitude for the recognition accorded.
She added that writing had always been her way of expressing truth, faith, and hope, and the award has reinforced her belief in the power of words. “This is a motivation to keep writing, keep learning, and keep inspiring.
This achievement is not mine alone. I thank God for the gift of words, the organisers for creating this platform, the judges for their time and recognition, and everyone who has encouraged me along my writing journey,” she said.
The creative writing competition, which was instituted some months ago was designed to challenge Corps Members to tell compelling stories through pictures, poetry and/or creative writing, as it also seeks to promote literary excellence and showcase the creative prowess of Nigerian youths.
