Oyo State College Deputy Registrar Onike Dies After Falling Ill On Campus

Alhaji Rahman Onike, Deputy Registrar for Student Affairs at OYSCATECH, Igboora, died after suddenly falling ill following a campus lecture, prompting shock and mourning from the college community.

The Deputy Registrar for Student Affairs at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, Alhaji Rahman Onike, has died following a sudden illness.

He reportedly fell ill shortly after giving a lecture on campus on Thursday. He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead.

Opeyemi Olawore, the Public Relations Officer for the college, confirmed the death in a statement issued on Friday on behalf of the Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi. She described the event as shocking for the college’s management, staff, and student body.

According to the statement:

“It is with a heavy heart but in submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the Rector, Professor Akinola Akinlabi, announces the death of a highly resourceful staff and seasoned administrator, Alhaji Onike Rahman, the Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs at Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.”

“The deceased, who became indisposed shortly after delivering a lecture on campus, was rushed to the hospital for prompt medical attention but was later pronounced dead by medical experts.”

“The Rector therefore extends his condolences to the registry department, staff, students, friends, colleagues, wife, children, and extended family in this time of great sorrow.”

Onike had begun his service at OYSCATECH in 2008 as an Administrative Officer II and rose through the ranks to Deputy Registrar. He was an alumnus of Saint Andrew’s College of Education (Oyo), University of Ibadan, and Olivet High School, among others.
