In a swift response, the Principal Officers, in collaboration with the University’s Joint Security Force comprising the Police (Led by the Area Commander, Ebri Onen), the Military (led by Major Kure), the DSS, Dekina, (led by Samuel John), the Vigilante group, the School Security, and the Man O’ War, assessed the reported venue and object. It was determined that the object in question is a hand grenade, likely misplaced by a security personnel.

In his assessment, the Area Commander of Police, Ebri Onen, clarified that the hand grenade, as found, was not harmful. He explained that the grenade, typically used for crowd control similar to tear gas, posed no threat in its current state. He emphasized that the object is not a bomb nor was it positioned to cause any harm.

Mr. Ebri Onen commended the University Management and the University’s Joint Security Force for their prompt response and security vigilance. He urged the continuation of such synergy and alertness and assured the University community of a safe and secure campus.
