Redeemer’s University Debunks Hostel Lockout Rumours, Confirms No Change in Fees Policy

Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State has debunked rumours circulating online that non-defaulting students have been locked out of hostels.

The management of Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the instalment payment schedule of the university has changed leading to students being locked out of hostels.

It has also refuted a fictitious document in circulation on the school fees payment and the resumption of returning students for the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session which has fuelled ongoing rumours and unease about students returning to hostels.

Among other fabrications, the false document purports that “Students who do not make full payment of their 2025/2026 Academic Session fees by Friday, 13th February, 2026 shall proceed on vacation and shall resume on Friday, 27th February, 2026.”

The management has reiterated that the instalment payment regime of fees at Redeemer’s University is 40 percent at the resumption of the first semester, 20 percent before first semester exams, and the balance of 40 percent at the resumption of the second semester, not before second semester exams as being peddled.

Members of the public may wish to note that unlike some other private universities, the instalment payment of fees was introduced over ten years ago to make it more convenient for parents to settle the fees of their wards but this has been abused over the years. What the university has done is to simply implement a long-standing policy, not a new rule. The university does not enjoy funding from the government or external bodies and fees paid by students are part of its revenue profile used in carrying out its statutory functions and services as required by its stakeholders.

Even though we have our payment rules, we still oblige parents who request for extension on individual basis,” the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan, fffps, said. He reiterated the efforts and provisions Redeemer’s University has put in place to ease the burden of fee payment that touches all categories of students.

As a university, we offer different categories of scholarships to students who excel in their studies, students who excel in sports, and students who win prizes in the university debates,” he said.

We also court various philanthropists to help pay the fees of indigent students among us. Students whose parents are members, workers or ministers in the RCCG receive different levels of educational grants,” the Vice-Chancellor added.
