The Senate on Wednesday passed for second reading a bill seeking to establish a federal university of education (technical) in Gombe State.


The bill is titled, “A bill for an Act to provide for the establishment of federal university of education (technical) Gombe and for other matters connected therewith, 2024 (SB-221).”
It is sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (PDP, Gombe North).
Senator Dankwambo who enumerated the importance of establishing the institution during his lead debate, asked his colleagues to support the bill.
After it scaled second reading, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, referred the bill to the Senate Committee on tertiary education and TETFUND for further legislative action.
The committee was given four weeks within which to submit its report to the committee of the whole.
