“Shun All Forms Of Vices, Ungodly Peer-pressure & Depraved Characters” – Director, LASUSPTS Charges Fresh Students’

The Director, Directorate of Part-Time Studies, Professor Danoye Oguntola-Laguda, on Friday, 5th April 2024, charged the newly admitted Part-Time students of the Lagos State University to shun all forms of vices, ungodly peer-pressure and depraved characters.

Professor Oguntola-Laguda gave the charge while delivering his address at the third (3rd) matriculation ceremony of the Part-Time Degree students under the leadership of the ninth (9th) substantive Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM. 

The event was held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, main campus, Ojo, Lagos. 

He further assured the matriculating students of the Directorate’s readiness to play its part in ensuring the success of the students and encouraged them to, in turn, play their parts by being hard-working, focused, and dedicated in their studies. 

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olufunsho Omobitan, in her address congratulated the matriculants for gaining admission into the University of first choice –  Lagos State University. 

Professor Olatunji-Bello urged the students to make the best use of their time at LASU, take advantage of all the resources available to them, engage with their peers in meaningful discussions, participate in extracurricular activities, and strive for excellence in everything they do. Her words “…I believe that each and every one of you has the potential to achieve great things in your academic and personal lives. Take pride in the fact that you are now a part of the LASU family, a family that values diversity, inclusivity, and excellence. Work hard, stay true to your goals, and never lose sight of your dreams”, the Vice Chancellor added.

The University Registrar, Mr Emmanuel A. FANU was in charge of the proceedings. 

The matriculation ceremony had in attendance, members of the University Management, staff, students, parents, and well-wishers.
