Teen Accepted into 28 U.S. Universities, Set to Become First in Family to Graduate

Demetrius Profic, a high-achieving senior from Maryland with a 3.9 GPA, was accepted into 28 colleges—including all Ivy League schools—and is set to become the first in his family to graduate college, fully funded by scholarships, as he narrows his choices to Yale, Princeton, Columbia, and Stanford.

Demetrius Profic, a senior at Dulaney High School in Maryland, has achieved a remarkable feat—he was accepted into 28 out of the 29 universities he applied to, including all seven Ivy League schools. This outstanding accomplishment positions him to become the first college graduate in his family.

“I kind of went a little crazy with my college applications—29 in total. It was a lot of essays and supplementals, but it turned out pretty well,” Demetrius told 11 News.

He not only secured multiple offers but also received enough scholarship funding to attend college completely tuition-free.

With a stellar 3.9 GPA, Demetrius balanced his academics with leadership roles in several extracurricular activities. He served as:

  • President of the Mock Trial Team
  • Member of RHO Kappa Honor Society
  • Active participant in UNICEF
  • Co-president of Teens Against Trafficking

Despite his demanding schedule, his dedication paid off. Now, he is narrowing his college options to four top-tier institutions: Yale, Princeton, Columbia, and Stanford. Demetrius plans to study political science with aspirations to become a lawyer or enter public service.

Reflecting on his journey, he encourages other students to dream big. “I did work hard at Dulaney. I took a lot of Advanced Placement courses and got involved. My advice? Don’t limit yourself—go for it.”
