UK University Honors Nigerian Man’s 3 Distinctions in Computing

Oluwafemi Osokoya, a talented Nigerian individual, has achieved a remarkable milestone by attaining a Master’s Degree in Computing Systems from Nottingham University in the United Kingdom, with an outstanding accomplishment of receiving three distinctions.

Prior to pursuing his master’s degree at Nottingham University, Oluwafemi earned an impressive second-class upper Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.

Reflecting on his achievement, Oluwafemi enthusiastically shared his success on his LinkedIn profile, expressing his delight in earning three distinctions in the technology-focused program, despite not possessing a background in the subject.

He stated, “I am thrilled to announce that I have earned a triple distinction in my journey from Psychology to Tech.”

Despite his initial interest in pursuing a technology-focused education, Oluwafemi faced discouragement due to his background in psychology.

Undeterred, he opted to further his studies within his existing field by seeking admission for a master’s program in Nigeria.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his plans when the lockdown resulted in the suspension of the master’s course he had enrolled in.

Rather than becoming disheartened, Oluwafemi transformed this setback into an opportunity.

”Fortunately, the Covid-19 lockdown brought my studies to a halt, but rather than be discouraged, I saw this as an opportunity to try something new,” Oluwafemi said.

He seized the chance to explore a new direction by enrolling in an online master’s course at Nottingham University, UK.Oluwafemi’s application was accepted, and his dedication to academics was once again acknowledged when he received an award for his exceptional performance as an undergraduate.

”So I took a leap of faith and applied for a master’s in Computing Systems at Nottingham Trent University. I was accepted and even awarded the NTU HIGH Achievers Award for my undergraduate achievements,” he added.

Reflecting on the situation, Oluwafemi expressed his perspective on the pandemic-induced interruption.

He shared that instead of allowing discouragement to take over, he chose to perceive the halt in his studies as an occasion to venture into uncharted territory.

With unwavering determination, he decided to take a bold step by applying for a master’s program in Computing Systems at Nottingham Trent University.

His decision paid off, as he not only gained admission but also earned recognition through the NTU HIGH Achievers Award for his outstanding accomplishments during his undergraduate studies.

Due to the Pandemic, Oluwafemi said he held most of his classes online. He added that he embraced the online classes as an opportunity as he was able to rewatch recorded lectures and have adequate time to prepare before each class.

Oluwafemi expressed that he found significant value in the online classes, which proved to be advantageous for his academic progress.

He accomplished a distinction in his initial graded module, an achievement that fueled his determination to persevere through his coursework despite any obstacles that came his way.

”This boosted my morale and motivated me to give my all. I built up resilience and was able to overcome most of the challenges that came my way,” he said.

Another notable accomplishment during his time in the United Kingdom was Oluwafemi’s successful attainment of a one-year placement at the ‘Skipton Building Society.’

This opportunity granted him a valuable practical experience in the technology sector and enabled him to connect with exceptionally talented professionals. As he completed his master’s program, Oluwafemi’s achievements continued to shine.

He achieved distinctions not only in his Master of Science dissertation and Master of Science degree but also in his Placement Diploma in Professional Practice.
