Umamah Tajudeen: A Story of Perseverance and Excellence

Umamah Tajudeen’s story is one of grit and brilliance, as she overcame repeated academic setbacks to graduate from UNILAG with a first-class degree in Insurance (4.90 CGPA), emerge as best graduating student, earn multiple scholarships, and move within one exam of becoming a Chartered Insurer.

Umamah Tajudeen, a determined young lady, has achieved remarkable academic success, graduating from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a first-class degree in Insurance, earning an outstanding 4.90 cumulative grade point average. Her journey is a testament to her determination, consistency, and perseverance.

Umamah’s path to higher education was not without challenges. She struggled with mathematics, wrote the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) three times, and sat for four different external examinations before gaining admission. However, she chose not to give up. Instead, she enrolled for a National Diploma at Yaba College of Technology, where she studied Marketing and graduated with distinction in 2019.

This achievement paved the way for her Direct Entry admission into UNILAG the following year. Upon resuming at UNILAG, Umamah was fully determined to excel. From her first year, she recorded an impressive 4.79 CGPA, steadily improving until she graduated with a 4.90 CGPA, an exceptional academic feat.

Umamah’s success is not limited to academics. She emerged as the Best Graduating Student of the Insurance Department, a testament to her excellence and resilience. She is currently one examination away from becoming a Chartered Insurer, a professional journey she began while still an undergraduate.

Throughout her academic journey, Umamah received numerous awards and recognitions, including Best Performing Student, Insurance Department (2023 & 2025), Oyo State Scholarship Award, Insure Africa Scholarship, and ASISA ’94 Scholarship Award.

Umamah’s story is an inspiration to many, demonstrating that with faith, perseverance, and self-belief, anything is possible.
