To qualify for the Entrance Examination into the various part-time degree programmes, candidates must satisfy the stated general and specific requirements for admission.

Please note that to complete this Admission Process, Candidates are required to fill out their details, including biometrics, at a JAMB-approved Centre on the JAMB site (jamb.org.ng) for a fee of N3,500.

INTRODUCTION

Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for admission into the following Undergraduate Degree Programmes of the University of Benin for the       2020/2021       Academic        Session.           All         the programmes are on Part-Time basis.

OBJECTIVES

These programmes are aimed at providing avenues for qualified candidates who cannot enroll in the Full-Time programmes (through JAMB) for one reason or the other to upgrade themselves and acquire degree qualifications from the University of Benin.

To qualify for admission into the various part-time degree programmes, candidates must satisfy the following general and specific requirements for admission.

GENERAL UNIVERSITY OF BENIN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The following General Admission Requirements apply uniformly across the Faculties.

  • Candidates for undergraduate programmes should possess the University matriculation requirements of Five O’ level credit passes including English Language at not more than two sittings in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE or their recognized equivalents.
  • First degree holders seeking admission into undergraduate programmes must possess a second class honours (lower division) and also satisfy (a) above for the respective programmes.
  • University of Benin Diploma holders seeking admission into Degree programmes should have at least a Merit Level Pass.
  • Diploma from other recognized Universities or OND from recognized Polytechnics/Colleges of Technology should be at least at the Upper Credit Level Pass.
  • HND from recognized Polytechnics should be at least at the Lower Credit Level Pass.
  • JUPEB Certificate of relevant points approved by the University of Benin Senate can be used as a Direct Entry requirements.
  • Waiver for mature candidates seeking admission into Part-Time degree programmes may be considered on the following conditions:
    • Candidates seeking waivers must apply in writing to the University Admissions Board for consideration.
    • Candidates should not be less than 35 years of age.
    • Candidates should have the relevant years of experience stipulated for the desired programme.
  • Note: not more than one subject of the regular requirements for the desired programme can be waived. English Language and core courses cannot be waived.

Note: not more than 5% of the total number of candidates admitted for a particular programme can be considered for waivers.

SPECIFIC FACULTY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

FACULTY OF ARTS DEGREE PROGRAMMES:

1.1. B.A. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
(i) At least 5 O’ level credit passes in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least 5 merit level passes in the TC II examination or their recognized equivalents of not more than 2 sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Literature in English and another Arts subject.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME (DIRECT ENTRY)
In addition to 1.1 (A) above candidates with the following qualifications may be considered for admission.
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE (A’ Level) passes to include Literature in English.
(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area.
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.
(iv) JUPEB at least 4 points will be considered in addition to above

1.2 B.A. MASS COMMUNICATION
A. SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
Candidates for admission into the six-year part-time programme should possess at least five (5) O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two subjects, out of which one must be in the Arts or Social Sciences in not more than two sittings in WAEC/SSCE, NECO, GCE or its equivalent.

(DIRECT ENTRY)
In addition to the stated requirements in ‘A’ above, applicants in this category must have obtained:
(i) A University Diploma in Mass
Communication recognized by Senate at the credit level.
(ii) OND Mass Communication in the Upper Credit division or its equivalent.

1.3 B.A. INTERNATIONAL STUDIES AND DIPLOMACY
(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements
(i) At least 5 O’ level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least
5 merit level passes in the TC II examinations in subjects that include English Language, History or Government, a second Arts subject and any other Arts or Social Science subject at not more than 2 sittings.
(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME (DIRECT ENTRY)
In addition to the O’ level requirements above, candidates must have any of the following:
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ Level passes or their recognized equivalents in History or Government and any other related subject.
(ii) At least Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area.
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institution.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION

2.1 DEPARTMENT OF ADULT AND NON-FORMAL EDUCATION
DURATION OF COURSE
Candidates admitted into the 100 level Part- Time Programme shall spend a minimum of six (6) long vacations while those admitted into 200 level shall spend a minimum of five long vacations.

SIX LONG VACATIONS PART-TIME PROGRAMMES
At least five ordinary level credit passes in WASCE/Ordinary Level GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or any other recognized equivalence obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language and Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the course of study as specified in the approved Faculty Prospectus.

FIVE LONG VACATIONS PART-TIME PROGRAMMES

At least two Merit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant subjects. Also accepted for admission are Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery certificates (from recognized institutions). H.Sc./AL/GCE. In addition, candidates must meet the matriculation requirements. At least 3 ordinary level credit passes in WASCE Ordinary level GCE/NECO/ NTC/NSC/NBTEC or at least 3 merit passes in the TC II or any other recognized equivalent in not more than one sitting, English and Mathematics and any one other subject relevant in the course of study.

Admission Requirements for Five or Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

(i) At least two merit-level passes in the relevant teaching subjects in Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) and three ordinary level credit passes in WASC WASC, SSC/GCE (NECO, WAEC)
NTC/NBC or three merit level-passes in the Teacher Grade II Certificate Examination TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting.
NOTE: The subject should include English Language.
(ii) At least three merit-level passes at the NCE
and two Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC, SSC/ GCE (NECO, WAEC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or ordinary two merit level-passes at the Teacher Grade II (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. NOTE: The subject should include English Language
(iii) At least Credit Level in Diploma in Adult Education (DAE), Social Work (DSW), Theatre Arts (DTA), Public Administration (DPA), Health Education (DHE), Physical Education (DPE), Mathematics Education (DME), Diploma in Data Processing (DDP)

Agricultural Extension and Co-operatives (DAEC), Fisheries, Forestry and Wild Life management from a recognized University and five ordinary level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE (NECO, WAEC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least three merit level-passes in the Teacher’s Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings.

2.2 DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS

Admission Requirements for the Five or Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme Candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:
(i) At least two merit level passes in Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and three Ordinary Level Credit level passes in WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or three merit level passes at the Teacher’s Grade Two or their recognized equivalents obtained at one sitting.
(ii) At least three merit level passes at the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) and two Ordinary Level Credit level passes at WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or two merit level passes at the Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalents obtained at one sitting.
(iii) At least two Advanced level passes in General Certificate in Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any of their recognized equivalents and five ordinary Level credit passes in WASC/ SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC
(NABTEB) or five merit level passes in (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should be chosen from History or Government, Literature in English, Religious Knowledge, French, and Fine Arts.

(iv) At least a Merit level pass in the relevant subjects in the University of Benin Diploma or Credit level pass from other recognized Universities and at least three credit level passes in WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or five merit level passes in TCMI or any of their equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings.

NOTE: Waiver for Mature Candidates
To qualify for admission under this category, candidates should satisfy the following conditions.

a) Should not be less than 35 years of age.
b) Should have at least 10 years teaching experience.
c) Should possess the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) and at least one Ordinary Level Credit pass in WASC/ SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC
(NABTEB) or at least one merit level pass in the Teacher’s Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalents.

IN GENERAL:
(i) A pass in NCE General English / a merit in TC II and NCE Basic Mathematics are regarded as equivalence of Ordinary Level Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics respectively.
(ii) Where a candidate is unable to matriculate because of deficiency in English or Mathematics, General English at NCE shall be accepted but not both.
(iii) Holders of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) are required to fulfil the UME requirements.

(i) Admission Requirements for Six-Year Programmes
a. B.Sc (Ed) Biology
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and one from Agriculture or Geography.
b. B.Sc (Ed) Chemistry
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Chemistry and Mathematics and two others from Biology, Agricultural Science and Physics.
c. B.Sc (Ed) Computer Science
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in, WAEC, NECO, /NABTEB, NTC/NBC
or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at no more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two subjects of which should be from Science or Social Science.
d. B.Sc (Ed) Integrated Science
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NTC/NBC
or at least five credit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at no more than two sittings. The

subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other Agricultural Science, Geography.

e. B.Sc (Ed) Mathematics
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NTC/NBC
or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other from Science or Social Science.

f. B.Sc.(Ed) Physics
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NTC/NBC or
at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Physics and Mathematics in addition to two other Science subjects one of which should be Chemistry or further Mathematics.

g. B.Sc.(Ed) Social Studies
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics and any three from Humanities and Social Science provided at least one of them is a Social Science subject.

(ii) Admission Requirements for Five-Year Programmes
Candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:
i) At least two merit level passes in the relevant subjects at the Nigeria Certificate 7

in Education (NCE). In addition, candidates should possess three Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASSCE, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or three merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate (TC II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The ‘O’ level subjects or equivalents should include English Languageand Mathematics and one subject relevant to the intended course of study.

ii) At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma or at least a credit level pass Diploma in relevant courses from a recognized institution and three Ordinary Level Credit passes obtained at not more than one sitting. The ‘O’ level subjects should include English Language and Mathematics and one subject that is relevant to the intended course of study.

iii) At least two Advanced Level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any other recognized equivalent in the relevant subject areas and three ordinary level credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or three merit passes at the TC II or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting may be considered for any of the relevant degree programme. The ‘O’level subjects or equivalent should include English Language and Mathematics and one subject relevant to the intended course of study.

2.4 DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION AND COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY

B.Sc (Ed) Guidance and Counselling

a. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Programme:

Candidates should possess at least five credit passes SSCE/WASC, WASC, GCE, NECO/SSCE, NABTEB, NTC/NBC, or at
least five-merit level passes in the Teachers’ Grade II Certificate Examination (TCII) or any of their recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. He subject should include English Language,

Mathematics, and any other Science, Social Science or Arts subjects.

b. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Programme:

In addition to the matriculation requirements above, candidates for the five-year Part-Time programme in Counselling Psychology should possess a minimum of merit in the relevant teaching subject(s) at the NCE or at least credit pass in not less than two subjects at the GCE A’level. A merit in the relevant subject at Diploma of the University of Benin or Credit from the Diploma programme of other institutions acceptable to the University of University Senate.
2.5 DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN KINETICS AND SPORTS SCIENCE

B.Sc. (Ed) Human Kinetics

a. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme:
Candidates seeking admission into the programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least five ordinary level credit passes in WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE/GCE
NABTEB or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. They should include English Language, Mathematics, any science subject and any other two subjects.

b. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme

i) At least two merit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE), one of which should be Physical Education, and three Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC/SSCE/GCE, NECO/ WASC, NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least three merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TCII)
or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. One of the O’Level subjects or equivalent should be English Language 8

ii) At least three merit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE), one of which should be Physical Education and two Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC/SSCE/GCE, NECO/ WASC, NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least two merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. One of the O’Level subjects or equivalent should be English Language.
iii) At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in Physical Education (DPE) or Diploma in School Health Education (DSHE) or a credit level pass from a recognised University and three Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC/ SSCE/GCE, NECO/WASC, NTC/NBC
(NABTEB) or at least three merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. One of the O’Level subjects or equivalent should be English Language.
iv) Holders of Diploma in Physical Education or Physical and Health Education or other related areas with at least a merit pass or lower credit or its equivalent are eligible. Holders of NCE in Physical Education or Physical and Health Education or other related areas at merit pass also qualify.

2.6 DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

(1) B.Sc. Health Education

a. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least Five Ordinary Level Credit Pass in WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE/GCE,
NABTEB, or at least Five Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. They should include

English Language, Mathematics and one Science subject.
b. Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme

i) At least two Credit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) one of which should be in Health Education or Biology or Integrated Science and three Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or
at least Three Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credits at not more than two sittings. These should include English Language, Mathematics.

ii) At least a credit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma or a credit pass from a recognized University in Health Education or Environmental Education or Heath Statistics or Social Work, Health Technology Administration or Community Health and at least three O’ level passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/ GCE, NECO, NABTEB, NTC/NBC or
three credit passes in the Teacher Grade Two Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credit passes at two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics.

iii) Credit pass level in Certificate for Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) and five O’ level credits passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO,
NABTEB, at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics

iv) At least Registered Nurse Certificate, and Five O’ level Credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or
at least five credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credits at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics.

(2) B.Sc. Environmental Education

a. Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least Five Ordinary Level Credit Pass in WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE/GCE,
NABTEB, or at least Five Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics and Biology/Agricultural Science.

b. Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme

i) At least two Credit Level Passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) one of which should be in Health Education, Biology, Biology/Agricultural Science, Integrated Science or Environmental Education and three Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or at least Three Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC.II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credits at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and Biology/ Agricultural Science.

The subjects should include English Language, Biology, Agricultural Science, and at least a pass in Chemistry at the GCE/OL. NOTE: A pass in NCE General/Integrated Science may be acceptable for “O” Level Chemistry.
(d) B.Sc. (Ed) Industrial Technical Education Admission Requirements for the Six-Year
Part-Time Degree Programme

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualification:

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be Technical Education or Physics/Chemistry, Chemistry/ Mathematics. Physics/Mathematics and at least two Ordinary level credit passes in

WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least two merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other Science and/or Technical subject.
(ii) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be Technical Education or Physics/Chemistry, Chemistry/ Mathematics, Physics/Mathematics and at least two Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or two merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other Science and/or Technical subject.
(iii) City & Guilds (Finals) or Engineering Technicians Certificate (part II) and at least five Ordinary Level credit passes at not more than two sittings. The subjects Mathematics.
(iv) At least credit level passes in Diploma in Industrial Technical Education from a recognized University, or ND in Mechanical Technology, Electrical/ Electronic Technology, Building Technology and three Ordinary Level credit passes WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC), of their recognized equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics.

NOTE: Waiver for mature Candidates To qualify for admission under the category candidates should satisfy the following conditions:
(a) Should not be less than 35 years old
(b) Should have at least 10 years teaching experience
(c) Should have at least a pass in the NCE and one ordinary level credit pass in WASC, SSC/GCE (NECO/WASC),

(d) At least an overall merit pass in the Diploma in Agricultural Science. Agricultural Education. Wild Life and Forestry and Fisheries from the University of Benin and other recognized Universities and three Ordinary Level I WASC, SSC/GCE (NECO, WASC) NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or at least three merit level passes in the Teacher’s Grade II Certificate Examinations (TCII) or any of their recognized equivalent. The subjects should include English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics for candidate applying for the B.Sc. (Ed) Agricultural Science.

IN GENERAL

(i) A pass in NCE General English a merit in TCII and NCE basic Mathematics are regarded as equivalence of Ordinary Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics, respectively.

(ii) Where a candidate is unable to English or Mathematics, General English at NCE shall be accepted but not both.

(iii) Holders of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) are required to fulfill the UME requirements.

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

3.1 BACHELOR IN ACCOUNTING (BIA)
(a) Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
At least 5 O’ level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSC. GCE, NECO, SSCE or at least 5 merit level passes in the TC II Examinations or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings in subjects that include English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

(b) Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
In addition to the O’ level requirements in 3.1a. above, candidates should possess any of the

following qualifications:
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A ‘level passes or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. One of the two subjects should be Accounting and the other, either Economics or Business Management.
(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject areas.
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions
(iv) At least a Second Class Lower Degree in any relevant subject from a recognized University.
(v) A complete pass in the Foundation Examination of ICAN, ATS, CISC or any other equivalent professional accounting body.

c) FOUR-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements in 3.1a. above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) HND with at least an Upper Credit
Level pass in Accounting from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
(ii) A pass in the Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
(ii) Any other recognized equivalent professional Accounting qualification or Higher Degree with some Accounting content like MBA, etc.

3.2. BACHELOR IN BANKING AND FINANCE (BBF)

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
At least 5 O’ Level credit passes in WASC, SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least 5 merit level passes in the TC II Examinations or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings in subjects to include, English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements in 3.2a. above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) HSC or GCE A ‘Level passes or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. One of the two subjects should be Economics.

(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area

(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions

(iv) A pass in the Associate Institute of Bankers (AIB) Examinations (Part I)

(c) FOUR-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to requirements in 3.2a. above, candidates should possess any of:
(a) HND in any relevant subject awarded by the recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
(b) A Bachelor degree in any subject awarded by a recognized University.

FACULTY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES

4.1 BACHELOR IN INDUSTRIAL PHYSICS (BIP)
(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
At least 5 Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE, GCE, NECO, SSCE or at least 5
merit passes in the TCII Examinations or its recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings, in subjects to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or Agricultural Science.
(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements above, candidates should possess any of the following

qualifications.
i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ Level passes or their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. The subjects should include Physics and either one of Chemistry or Mathematics.

ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area

iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.
(c) FOUR-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements above, candidates should possess HND with at least a lower credit level pass in Science Laboratory Technology, Geology/Mining, Polymer Chemistry, Computer Science or a related subject area from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
4.2 B.Sc COMPUTER SCIENCE

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE, NABTEB or at least 5
merit passes in the TC II Examinations or its recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two other science subjects from Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Geography and Economics.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
In addition to the O’ level requirements 5.2(a) above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ level passes or their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. One of the subjects should be Physics.
(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.

4.3 BACHELOR OF STATISTICS

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications: At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WAEC SSCE/GCE/NECO SSCE/GCE or at least five credit passes in Teachers’ Grade II Certificate Examination (T.C. II) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include, English Language, Mathematics, and at least three Science or Social Sciences Subjects or a combination of Sciences and Social Science subjects. NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.
(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME
In addition to the O/Level requirements in 4.3(a) above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications.
i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ Level passes or their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics or Statistics.
ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area.
iii) At least a Merit level pass in NCE or an Upper Credit level pass in OND/ND or at least a Lower Credit level pass in HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE

5.1. BACHELOR OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (BPA)

A. Admission requirements for the six-year (B.Sc Public Administration) part-time degree programme.
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
(a) At least five ordinary level credit passes in WAEC, SSCE, NECO, or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than two sittings, English and Mathematics

inclusive.
(b) At least five merit level passes in the Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate Examination (T.C. II). In both cases, the subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Government/ History, Economics/Commerce or both and any other subject.
B. Mature Students Clause
Since many of the candidates who may wish to take up this course are likely to be highly experienced public servants who may not have acquired their GCE Advanced level qualification or any of the above Diplomas, provision is made to accommodate their experience. To be considered for admission under this category, candidates must satisfy the following conditions.
i. Should be at least 35 years of age
ii. Should have at least 10 years cognate working experience
iii. Should possess at least five ordinary level credit passes

Or at least four merit level passes in the Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate Examination (T.C.II) or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics at credit level. NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.

B. Admission requirements for the five-year (B.Sc Public Administration) part-time degree programme.

(i) Holders of the NCE with specialization in Government or History and any other social science subject with an overall pass with credit.

(ii) Holders of the Diploma in Public Administration (DPA) of the University of Benin or any other recognized institution with at least an overall pass

(iii) Holders of Diploma in Local Government of any recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.

(iii) At least a credit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in any of the following: Public Administration (DPA), Law (DIL), International Studies ad Diplomacy (DIS), Nursing Administration and Management (DNAM), Health Statistics (DHS), Health Administration and Management (DHAM), Health Education (DHE), Agricultural Economics (DAE), Public Health (DPH), Community Development (DCP).
(iv) Diploma with at least an Upper credit level pass in any of the following: Social Work, Public Administration, Law, International Studies and Diplomacy, Health Administration and Management, Health Statistics, Nursing Administration and Management, Health Education, Agricultural Economics from any other recognized University.
(v) Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with at least an Upper credit level pass in relevant discipline from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
(vi) Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower credit level pass in relevant discipline from a recognized Polytechnic or College Technology.
(vii) National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit pass in a Social Science subject from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidates should have at least an overall merit level pass.

5.3 B.Sc POLITICAL SCIENCE
A. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year
B.Sc. Political Science part-time degree programme

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five credit passes in WASC/SSCE/NECO or GCE (O/L) or
equivalent of at least five merits passes in TC II. This must include English Language and Mathematics plus Government or History and any social science subject. These must have been obtained in not more than two sittings.
B. Mature Students Clause
Since many of the candidates who may wish to take up this course are likely to be highly experienced public servants who may not have acquired their GCE Advanced level qualification or any of the above Diplomas, provision is made to accommodate their experience. To be considered for admission under this category, candidates must satisfy the following conditions.

i. Should be at least 35 years of age
ii. Should have at least 10 years cognate working experience
iii. Should possess at least five ordinary level
credit passes.
NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.

B. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year B.Sc. Political Science part-time degree programme

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
A (i) requirements for A above plus
(ii) GCE (A/L) passes or H.SC (Principal level passes) in at least two social science subjects one of which must be Government
B (i) Holders of the NCE with specialization in Government or History and any other social science subject with

an overall pass with credit.

(iii) Holders of Diploma in Local Government of any recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.

(v) Holders of the Diploma in International Relations of any recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.

(vii) Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Pre- Degree candidates who meet the minimum

To qualify for the Entrance Examination into the various part-time degree programmes, candidates must satisfy the stated general and specific requirements for admission.

Please note that to complete this Admission Process, Candidates are required to fill out their details, including biometrics, at a JAMB-approved Centre on the JAMB site (jamb.org.ng) for a fee of N3,500.

INTRODUCTION
Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for admission intothe following Undergraduate Degree Programmes of the University of Benin for the 2020/2021 Academic Session. All the programmes are on Part-Time basis.

OBJECTIVES
These programmes are aimed at providing avenues for qualified candidates who cannot enroll in the Full-Time programmes (through JAMB) for one reason or the other to upgrade themselves and acquire degree qualifications from the University of Benin.
To qualify for admission into the various part-time degree programmes, candidates must satisfy the following general and specific requirements for admission.
A. GENERAL UNIVERSITY OF BENIN ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The following General Admission Requirements apply uniformly across the Faculties.
(a) Candidates for undergraduate programmes should possess the University matriculation requirements of Five O’ level credit passes including English Language at not more than two sittings in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE or their
recognized equivalents.

(b) First degree holders seeking admission into undergraduate programmes must possess a second class honours (lower division) and also satisfy (a) above for the respective programmes.
(c) University of Benin Diploma holders seeking admission into Degree programmes should have at least a Merit Level Pass.
(d) Diploma from other recognized Universities or OND from recognized Polytechnics/Colleges of Technology should be at least at the Upper Credit Level Pass.
(e) HND from recognized Polytechnics should be at least at the Lower Credit Level Pass.
(f) JUPEB Certificate of relevant points approved by the University of Benin Senate can be used as a Direct Entry requirements.
(g) Waiver for mature candidates seeking admission into Part-Time degree programmes may be considered on the following conditions:
(i) Candidates seeking waivers must apply in writing to the University Admissions Board for consideration.
(ii) Candidates should not be less than 35 years of age.
(iii) Candidates should have the relevant years of experience stipulated for the desired programme.

(iv) Not more than one subject of the regular requirements for the desired programme can be waived. English Language and core courses cannot be waived.
Note: not more than 5% of the total number of candidates admitted for a particular programme can be considered for waivers.

B. SPECIFIC FACULTY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1.0 FACULTY OF ARTS DEGREE PROGRAMMES:
1.1. B.A. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
(i) At least 5 O’ level credit passes in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least 5 merit level passes in the TC II examination or their recognized equivalents of not more than 2 sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Literature in English and another Arts subject.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME (DIRECT ENTRY)
In addition to 1.1 (A) above candidates with the following qualifications may be considered for admission.
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE (A’ Level) passes to include Literature in English.
(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area.
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.
(iv) JUPEB at least 4 points will be considered in addition to above

1.2 B.A. MASS COMMUNICATION
A. SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
Candidates for admission into the six-year part-time programme should possess at least five (5) O’level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two subjects, out of which one must be in the Arts or Social Sciences in not more than two sittings in WAEC/SSCE, NECO, GCE or its equivalent.

(DIRECT ENTRY)
In addition to the stated requirements in ‘A’ above, applicants in this category must have obtained:
(i) A University Diploma in Mass
Communication recognized by Senate at the credit level.
(ii) OND Mass Communication in the Upper Credit division or its equivalent.

1.3 B.A. INTERNATIONAL STUDIES AND DIPLOMACY
(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements
(i) At least 5 O’ level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least
5 merit level passes in the TC II examinations in subjects that include English Language, History or Government, a second Arts subject and any other Arts or Social Science subject at not more than 2 sittings.
(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME (DIRECT ENTRY)
In addition to the O’ level requirements above, candidates must have any of the following:
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ Level passes or their recognized equivalents in History or Government and any other related subject.
(ii) At least Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area.
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institution.

2.0 FACULTY OF EDUCATION
2.1 DEPARTMENT OF ADULT AND NON-FORMAL EDUCATION
DURATION OF COURSE
Candidates admitted into the 100 level Part- Time Programme shall spend a minimum of six (6) long vacations while those admitted into 200 level shall spend a minimum of five long vacations.

SIX LONG VACATIONS PART-TIME PROGRAMMES
At least five ordinary level credit passes in WASCE/Ordinary Level GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or any other recognized equivalence obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language and Mathematics and other subjects relevant to the course of study as specified in the approved Faculty Prospectus.

FIVE LONG VACATIONS PART-TIME PROGRAMMES

At least two Merit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant subjects. Also accepted for admission are Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery certificates (from recognized institutions). H.Sc./AL/GCE. In addition, candidates must meet the matriculation requirements. At least 3 ordinary level credit passes in WASCE Ordinary level GCE/NECO/ NTC/NSC/NBTEC or at least 3 merit passes in the TC II or any other recognized equivalent in not more than one sitting, English and Mathematics and any one other subject relevant in the course of study.

(i) At least two merit level passes in Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and three Ordinary Level Credit level passes in WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or three merit level passes at the Teacher’s Grade Two or their recognized equivalents obtained at one sitting.
(ii) At least three merit level passes at the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) and two Ordinary Level Credit level passes at WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or two merit level passes at the Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalents obtained at one sitting.
(iii) At least two Advanced level passes in General Certificate in Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any of their recognized equivalents and five ordinary Level credit passes in WASC/ SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC
(NABTEB) or five merit level passes in (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should be chosen from History or Government, Literature in English, Religious Knowledge, French, and Fine Arts.

(iv) At least a Merit level pass in the relevant subjects in the University of Benin Diploma or Credit level pass from other recognized Universities and at least three credit level passes in WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or five merit level passes in TCMI or any of their equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings.

NOTE: Waiver for Mature Candidates
To qualify for admission under this category, candidates should satisfy the following conditions.

a) Should not be less than 35 years of age.
b) Should have at least 10 years teaching experience.
c) Should possess the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) and at least one Ordinary Level Credit pass in WASC/ SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC
(NABTEB) or at least one merit level pass in the Teacher’s Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalents.

IN GENERAL:
(i) A pass in NCE General English / a merit in TC II and NCE Basic Mathematics are regarded as equivalence of Ordinary Level Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics respectively.
(ii) Where a candidate is unable to matriculate because of deficiency in English or Mathematics, General English at NCE shall be accepted but not both.
(iii) Holders of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) are required to fulfil the UME requirements.

c. B.Sc (Ed) Computer Science
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

d. B.Sc (Ed) Integrated Science
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NTC/NBC or
at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Physics and Mathematics in addition to two other Science subjects one of which should be Chemistry or further Mathematics.

g. B.Sc.(Ed) Social Studies
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics and any three from Humanities and Social Science provided at least one of them is a Social Science subject.

(ii) Admission Requirements for Five-Year Programmes
Candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission:
i) At least two merit level passes in the relevant subjects at the Nigeria Certificate 7

in Education (NCE). In addition, candidates should possess three Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASSCE, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or three merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate (TC II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The ‘O’ level subjects or equivalents should include English Languageand Mathematics and one subject relevant to the intended course of study.

ii) At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma or at least a credit level pass Diploma in relevant courses from a recognized institution and three Ordinary Level Credit passes obtained at not more than one sitting. The ‘O’ level subjects should include English Language and Mathematics and one subject that is relevant to the intended course of study.

iii) At least two Advanced Level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) or any other recognized equivalent in the relevant subject areas and three ordinary level credit passes in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or three merit passes at the TC II or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting may be considered for any of the relevant degree programme. The ‘O’level subjects or equivalent should include English Language and Mathematics and one subject relevant to the intended course of study.

2.4 DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION AND COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY

B.Sc (Ed) Guidance and Counselling

a. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Programme:

Candidates should possess at least five credit passes SSCE/WASC, WASC, GCE, NECO/SSCE, NABTEB, NTC/NBC, or at
least five-merit level passes in the Teachers’ Grade II Certificate Examination (TCII) or any of their recognized equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings. He subject should include English Language,

Mathematics, and any other Science, Social Science or Arts subjects.

b. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Programme:

In addition to the matriculation requirements above, candidates for the five-year Part-Time programme in Counselling Psychology should possess a minimum of merit in the relevant teaching subject(s) at the NCE or at least credit pass in not less than two subjects at the GCE A’level. A merit in the relevant subject at Diploma of the University of Benin or Credit from the Diploma programme of other institutions acceptable to the University of University Senate.
2.5 DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN KINETICS AND SPORTS SCIENCE

B.Sc. (Ed) Human Kinetics

a. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme:
Candidates seeking admission into the programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least five ordinary level credit passes in WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE/GCE
NABTEB or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. They should include English Language, Mathematics, any science subject and any other two subjects.

b. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme

i) At least two merit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE), one of which should be Physical Education, and three Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC/SSCE/GCE, NECO/ WASC, NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least three merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TCII)
or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. One of the O’Level subjects or equivalent should be English Language 8

ii) At least three merit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE), one of which should be Physical Education and two Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC/SSCE/GCE, NECO/ WASC, NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least two merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. One of the O’Level subjects or equivalent should be English Language.
iii) At least a merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in Physical Education (DPE) or Diploma in School Health Education (DSHE) or a credit level pass from a recognised University and three Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASC/ SSCE/GCE, NECO/WASC, NTC/NBC
(NABTEB) or at least three merit level passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting. One of the O’Level subjects or equivalent should be English Language.
iv) Holders of Diploma in Physical Education or Physical and Health Education or other related areas with at least a merit pass or lower credit or its equivalent are eligible. Holders of NCE in Physical Education or Physical and Health Education or other related areas at merit pass also qualify.

a. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

At least Five Ordinary Level Credit Pass in WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE/GCE,
NABTEB, or at least Five Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. They should include

English Language, Mathematics and one Science subject.
b. Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme

i) At least two Credit level passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) one of which should be in Health Education or Biology or Integrated Science and three Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or
at least Three Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credits at not more than two sittings. These should include English Language, Mathematics.

ii) At least a credit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma or a credit pass from a recognized University in Health Education or Environmental Education or Heath Statistics or Social Work, Health Technology Administration or Community Health and at least three O’ level passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/ GCE, NECO, NABTEB, NTC/NBC or
three credit passes in the Teacher Grade Two Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credit passes at two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics.

iii) Credit pass level in Certificate for Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) and five O’ level credits passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO,
NABTEB, at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics

iv) At least Registered Nurse Certificate, and Five O’ level Credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or
at least five credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credits at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics.

(2) B.Sc. Environmental Education

a. Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least Five Ordinary Level Credit Pass in WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, SSCE/GCE,
NABTEB, or at least Five Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC. II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics and Biology/Agricultural Science.

b. Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme

i) At least two Credit Level Passes in the Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) one of which should be in Health Education, Biology, Biology/Agricultural Science, Integrated Science or Environmental Education and three Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or at least Three Credit Level Passes in the Teachers Grade II Certificate Examination (TC.II) or any other recognized equivalent obtained at one sitting or five O’ level credits at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and Biology/ Agricultural Science.

ii) At least a Credit Level Pass in the University of Benin Diploma or a credit pass from a recognized University in Health Education or Environmental Education or Health Statistics or Social Work, Health Technology Administration or Community Health and at least three O’ level passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE/GCE, NECO,

iv) At least a Merit level pass in the relevant subjects in the University of Benin Diploma or Credit level pass from other recognized Universities and at least three Credit level passes in WASC/SSC/GCE (NECO/WAEC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or five merit level passes in TCMI or any of their equivalents obtained at not more than two sittings.
NOTE: Waiver for Mature Candidates
To qualify for admission under this category, candidates should satisfy the following conditions.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be Agricultural Science and at least three Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least three merit-level passes in TCII or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other related Science subject.

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) At least two merit passes in the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) including Business Education including Accounting and three Ordinary level credit one of which should be Agricultural Science and at least three Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least five merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects chosen from Social/Management Science

Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualification:

(i) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be in Home Economics and three Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or at least three merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Agricultural Science, and at least a pass in GCE/OL Chemistry and any other Science subjects.

(ii) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be in Home Economics and three Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC),

NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least two merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Biology, Agricultural Science, and at least a pass in GCE/OL Chemistry.
(iii) At least credit level passes in Diploma in Home Economics, Health Education, Hotel and Catering Management from a recognizes University or Polytechnic of College of Technology and three Ordinary level credit passes in two merit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC), NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at
least two merit-level passes in TCII) or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Biology, Agricultural Science, and at least a pass in Chemistry at the GCE/OL. NOTE: A pass in NCE General/Integrated Science may be acceptable for “O” Level Chemistry.
(d) B.Sc. (Ed) Industrial Technical Education Admission Requirements for the Six-Year
Part-Time Degree Programme

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualification:
At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE (“NECO, WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least five merit-level passes in TCII or any other recognized equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and other three subjects chosen from Science and Technical subjects.

Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be Technical Education or Physics/Chemistry, Chemistry/ Mathematics. Physics/Mathematics and at least two Ordinary level credit passes in

WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least two merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other Science and/or Technical subject.
(ii) At least two merit passes in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) one of which should be Technical Education or Physics/Chemistry, Chemistry/ Mathematics, Physics/Mathematics and at least two Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or two merit-level passes in TCII or any of their recognized equivalent obtained at not more than one sitting. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other Science and/or Technical subject.
(iii) City & Guilds (Finals) or Engineering Technicians Certificate (part II) and at least five Ordinary Level credit passes at not more than two sittings. The subjects Mathematics.
(iv) At least credit level passes in Diploma in Industrial Technical Education from a recognized University, or ND in Mechanical Technology, Electrical/ Electronic Technology, Building Technology and three Ordinary Level credit passes WASC, SSC/GCE, (NECO, WASC), of their recognized equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics.

NOTE: Waiver for mature Candidates To qualify for admission under the category candidates should satisfy the following conditions:
(a) Should not be less than 35 years old
(b) Should have at least 10 years teaching experience
(c) Should have at least a pass in the NCE and one ordinary level credit pass in WASC, SSC/GCE (NECO/WASC),
NTC/NBC (NABTEB) or at least three merit-level passes in the Teacher’s Grade II Certificate Examinations (TCII) or any of their recognized

equivalent.
(d) At least an overall merit pass in the Diploma in Agricultural Science. Agricultural Education. Wild Life and Forestry and Fisheries from the University of Benin and other recognized Universities and three Ordinary Level I WASC, SSC/GCE (NECO, WASC) NTC/NBC (NABTEB)
or at least three merit level passes in the Teacher’s Grade II Certificate Examinations (TCII) or any of their recognized equivalent. The subjects should include English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics for candidate applying for the B.Sc. (Ed) Agricultural Science.

IN GENERAL

(i) A pass in NCE General English a merit in TCII and NCE basic Mathematics are regarded as equivalence of Ordinary Level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics, respectively.

(ii) Where a candidate is unable to English or Mathematics, General English at NCE shall be accepted but not both.

(iii) Holders of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) are required to fulfill the UME requirements.

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

3.1 BACHELOR IN ACCOUNTING (BIA)
(a) Admission Requirements for the Six-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
At least 5 O’ level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSC. GCE, NECO, SSCE or at least 5 merit level passes in the TC II Examinations or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings in subjects that include English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

(b) Admission Requirements for the Five-Year Part-Time Degree Programme
In addition to the O’ level requirements in 3.1a. above, candidates should possess any of the

following qualifications:
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A ‘level passes or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. One of the two subjects should be Accounting and the other, either Economics or Business Management.
(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject areas.
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions
(iv) At least a Second Class Lower Degree in any relevant subject from a recognized University.
(v) A complete pass in the Foundation Examination of ICAN, ATS, CISC or any other equivalent professional accounting body.

c) FOUR-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements in 3.1a. above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) HND with at least an Upper Credit
Level pass in Accounting from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
(ii) A pass in the Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
(ii) Any other recognized equivalent professional Accounting qualification or Higher Degree with some Accounting content like MBA, etc.

3.2. BACHELOR IN BANKING AND FINANCE (BBF)

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
At least 5 O’ Level credit passes in WASC, SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least 5 merit level passes in the TC II Examinations or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings in subjects to include, English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements in 3.2a. above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) HSC or GCE A ‘Level passes or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. One of the two subjects should be Economics.

(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area

(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions

(iv) A pass in the Associate Institute of Bankers (AIB) Examinations (Part I)

(c) FOUR-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to requirements in 3.2a. above, candidates should possess any of:
(a) HND in any relevant subject awarded by the recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
(b) A Bachelor degree in any subject awarded by a recognized University.

FACULTY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES

4.1 BACHELOR IN INDUSTRIAL PHYSICS (BIP)
(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
At least 5 Ordinary level credit passes in WASC, WAEC, SSCE, GCE, NECO, SSCE or at least 5
merit passes in the TCII Examinations or its recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings, in subjects to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Biology or Agricultural Science.
(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements above, candidates should possess any of the following

qualifications.
i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ Level passes or their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. The subjects should include Physics and either one of Chemistry or Mathematics.

ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area

iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.
(c) FOUR-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
In addition to the O’ level requirements above, candidates should possess HND with at least a lower credit level pass in Science Laboratory Technology, Geology/Mining, Polymer Chemistry, Computer Science or a related subject area from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
4.2 B.Sc COMPUTER SCIENCE

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
Admission Requirements:
SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE, NABTEB or at least 5
merit passes in the TC II Examinations or its recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two other science subjects from Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Geography and Economics.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME PROGRAMME
In addition to the O’ level requirements 5.2(a) above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications:
(i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ level passes or their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. One of the subjects should be Physics.
(ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area
(iii) At least an Upper Credit pass in NCE, OND/ND and HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.

4.3 BACHELOR OF STATISTICS

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

Admission Requirements:
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications: At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WAEC SSCE/GCE/NECO SSCE/GCE or at least five credit passes in Teachers’ Grade II Certificate Examination (T.C. II) or any of the equivalent recognized by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include, English Language, Mathematics, and at least three Science or Social Sciences Subjects or a combination of Sciences and Social Science subjects. NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.
(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME
In addition to the O/Level requirements in 4.3(a) above, candidates should possess any of the following qualifications.
i) At least 2 HSC or GCE A’ Level passes or their recognized equivalents at not more than 2 sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics or Statistics.
ii) At least a Merit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in the relevant subject area.
iii) At least a Merit level pass in NCE or an Upper Credit level pass in OND/ND or at least a Lower Credit level pass in HND in the relevant subject area from other recognized institutions.

5.0 FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE

5.1. BACHELOR OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (BPA)

A. Admission requirements for the six-year (B.Sc Public Administration) part-time degree programme.
Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
(a) At least five ordinary level credit passes in WAEC, SSCE, NECO, or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than two sittings, English and Mathematics

inclusive.
(b) At least five merit level passes in the Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate Examination (T.C. II). In both cases, the subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Government/ History, Economics/Commerce or both and any other subject.
B. Mature Students Clause
Since many of the candidates who may wish to take up this course are likely to be highly experienced public servants who may not have acquired their GCE Advanced level qualification or any of the above Diplomas, provision is made to accommodate their experience. To be considered for admission under this category, candidates must satisfy the following conditions.
i. Should be at least 35 years of age
ii. Should have at least 10 years cognate working experience
iii. Should possess at least five ordinary level credit passes

Or at least four merit level passes in the Teacher’s Grade Two Certificate Examination (T.C.II) or any of their recognized equivalents at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics at credit level. NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.

B. Admission requirements for the five-year (B.Sc Public Administration) part-time degree programme.

REQUIREMENT A:
(i) Requirement A (a or b) above plus
(ii) GCE (A/L) passes or H.SC (Principal level passes) in at least two social science subjects, one of which must be Government
REQUIREMENT B:
(i) Holders of the NCE with specialization in Government or History and any other social science subject with an overall pass with credit.

(ii) Holders of the Diploma in Public Administration (DPA) of the University of Benin or any other recognized institution with at least an overall pass

with credit.

(iii) Holders of Diploma in Local Government of any recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.

5.2. BACHELOR OF SOCIAL WORK (BSW)

(a) SIX-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME

To be eligible for admission to the professional BSW programme, applicants must have:

At least five Ordinary Level credit passes in WASC, WAEC SSCE/GCE, NECO SSCE or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade Two Certificate Examination (T.C. II) or any of their recognised equivalent at not more than two sittings.

The subjects should include English Language, Mathematics, and two subjects from Government/History, Commerce, Health Science, Economics, Geography, Civic Education and any other relevant subjects. NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.

(b) FIVE-YEAR PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME (DIRECT ENTRY)

(iii) At least a credit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in any of the following: Public Administration (DPA), Law (DIL), International Studies ad Diplomacy (DIS), Nursing Administration and Management (DNAM), Health Statistics (DHS), Health Administration and Management (DHAM), Health Education (DHE), Agricultural Economics (DAE), Public Health (DPH), Community Development (DCP).
(iv) Diploma with at least an Upper credit level pass in any of the following: Social Work, Public Administration, Law, International Studies and Diplomacy, Health Administration and Management, Health Statistics, Nursing Administration and Management, Health Education, Agricultural Economics from any other recognized University.
(v) Ordinary National Diploma (OND) with at least an Upper credit level pass in relevant discipline from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology.
(vi) Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower credit level pass in relevant discipline from a recognized Polytechnic or College Technology.
(vii) National Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least a credit pass in a Social Science subject from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidates should have at least an overall merit level pass.

5.3 B.Sc POLITICAL SCIENCE
A. Admission Requirements for the Six-Year
B.Sc. Political Science part-time degree programme

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
At least five credit passes in WASC/SSCE/NECO or GCE (O/L) or
equivalent of at least five merits passes in TC II. This must include English Language and Mathematics plus Government or History and any social science subject. These must have been obtained in not more than two sittings.
B. Mature Students Clause
Since many of the candidates who may wish to take up this course are likely to be highly experienced public servants who may not have acquired their GCE Advanced level qualification or any of the above Diplomas, provision is made to accommodate their experience. To be considered for admission under this category, candidates must satisfy the following conditions.

i. Should be at least 35 years of age
ii. Should have at least 10 years cognate working experience
iii. Should possess at least five ordinary level
credit passes.
NOTE: There may be an entrance examination.

B. Admission Requirements for the Five-Year B.Sc. Political Science part-time degree programme

Candidates seeking admission into this programme should possess any of the following qualifications:
A (i) requirements for A above plus
(ii) GCE (A/L) passes or H.SC (Principal level passes) in at least two social science subjects one of which must be Government
B (i) Holders of the NCE with specialization in Government or History and any other social science subject with

an overall pass with credit.
(ii) Holders of the Diploma in Public Administration (DPA) of the University of Benin or any other recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.
(iii) Holders of Diploma in Local Government of any recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.
(iv) Holders of Diploma in Social Work (DSW) of the University of Benin
or any other recognized institution
with at least an overall pass with credit.
(v) Holders of the Diploma in International Relations of any recognized institution with at least an overall pass with credit.
(vi) Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least lower credit level pass in any
relevant discipline from any recognized
Polytechnic or College of
Technology.
(vii) Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) Pre- Degree candidates who meet the minimum
requirements for direct entry are also eligible.
