UNIMAID Matriculates 8,504 Students For The 2024/2025 Academic Session

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has announced that a total of 8,504 students have been admitted into the university’s 100 and 200-level degree programs for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The admissions were conducted through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Direct Entry (DE), and placements from the university’s Remedial Arts and Science programs.

Professor Mele made this announcement during the matriculation ceremony held on March 10, 2025, at the university’s Convocation Square.

A breakdown of the admitted students by faculty is as follows:

  • College of Medical Sciences – 585,
  • Faculty of Agriculture – 234,
  • Faculty of Arts – 254,
  • Faculty of Education – 1,350 and
  • Faculty of Engineering – 834. Others includes Faculty of Environmental Studies – 82, Faculty of Law – 113,
  • Faculty of Life Sciences – 1,494,
  • Faculty of Management Sciences – 1,100,
  • Faculty of Pharmacy – 239,
  • Faculty of Physical Sciences – 1,345,
  • Faculty of Social Sciences – 754 and
  • Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – 120.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that matriculation marks the beginning of the students’ academic journey at the university, expressing hope that they will successfully complete their studies and graduate triumphantly. He urged the newly admitted students to abide by the university’s rules and regulations while avoiding social vices such as examination malpractice, cultism, and other activities that could jeopardize their future.

A highlight of the ceremony was the oath-taking session, led by the university’s Registrar, Mallam Ahmed Lawan.
