Veteran Nollywood actress and academic Joke Muyiwa, celebrated for her contributions to acting and education, has earned a PhD in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan at age 61, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Muyiwa has reached an extraordinary milestone, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan at the age of 61.

Known for her exceptional acting talent and dedication to academia, Muyiwa has made significant contributions to both fields. Since 2003, she has been a seasoned lecturer and served as the Head of the Department of Performing Arts at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) in 2010.

Her academic career has been marked by numerous achievements, including her promotion to the rank of Chief Arts Fellow, a position comparable to a professorial status. Sharing her excitement on Instagram, she wrote, “My promotion to the position of Chief Arts Fellow, a Professorial cadre, was announced today. Lord, I say THANK YOU.”

Muyiwa’s academic journey began at Obafemi Awolowo University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons) in Dramatic Arts. She later pursued a Master of Arts in Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan, completing the program in 2020 while actively pursuing her acting and teaching careers.

Adding to her accolades, Muyiwa was also honored with an honorary doctorate from Redeemer’s University, further solidifying her reputation as both a scholar and a celebrated artist.

Her recent achievement is an inspiring testament to her dedication, resilience, and passion for learning.
