Cursory: Aisha Ketso, a Nigerian woman, achieved a historic first-class degree in Sociology at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University. She is the first female first-class graduate in the department and the overall second first-class graduate. Aisha’s dedication and family support contributed to her remarkable academic success, inspiring others with her achievement.

Aisha Ketso, a talented Nigerian woman, has etched her name in history as the pioneering female first-class graduate of the Department of Sociology at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) University, Nigeria.

She earned her sociology degree with an impressive cumulative grade point of 4.81/5.00. Notably, Aisha’s exceptional performance not only secured her the distinction of being the first female to achieve a first-class degree but also positioned her as the second overall first-class graduate and the highest-achieving student in the Department of Sociology.

In light of her remarkable feat, Aisha humbly attributed her success to her unwavering dedication and focused approach to her studies.

She expressed her happiness and gratitude, acknowledging the support of her family and the valuable knowledge imparted during her academic journey.

”I am happy. It meant a lot to me and my family. I was able to utilise the knowledge impacted in me. This achievement meant that well-defined commitment, focus and persistence are tripods for self-actualisation,” she said.

Originally aspiring for a legal career, Aisha’s academic trajectory took an unexpected yet rewarding turn when she encountered Sociology during her IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination) program. It was during this time that her interest in the field blossomed, and she decided to pursue it as her major.

Despite the challenges inherent in the broad and intricate discipline of Sociology, Aisha remained steadfast in her pursuit of excellence, determined to graduate with a first-class honor.

Through hard work and guidance from her mentors, she successfully attained her goal and set an inspiring example of dedication and achievement.

”I do not know how I would feel. I had never for once thought about this. I was so sure I would graduate with the grade I graduated with. I believe I earned it because I worked hard for it and had good mentoring,” she said.
