23-Year-Old Nigerian Achieves Childhood Dream of Becoming a Lawyer in the UK, Celebrates Milestone

Alice Oladipupo, a 23-year-old Nigerian, fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer in the UK, celebrating the achievement as the first lawyer in her family, with strong support from her mother.

Alice Oladipupo, a 23-year-old Nigerian, has fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer in the UK. She commemorated this achievement by sharing photos of her call to the Bar of England & Wales, including a nostalgic image of herself as a child wearing a lawyer’s wig. “I was called to the Bar of England & Wales. This has literally been my dream since I was a little girl (last slide) and finally, it’s become reality,” she shared on Instagram.

Alice completed her LL.B at the University of Surrey, England, and went on to earn a Master’s in Bar Vocational Studies at City University of London. She expressed her joy at becoming the first lawyer in her family and reflected on the pride of fulfilling a lifelong ambition. Despite not having any lawyers in her family, her passion for the profession was ignited at a primary school career fair and further inspired by watching legal dramas on television.

Alice’s success was bolstered by her mother’s support, who financed her master’s degree after a scholarship rejection. She expressed deep gratitude, stating, “I owe my mum everything. She believed that I was capable of becoming a lawyer and didn’t want finances to stop me from achieving my dream.”
